My thoughts and opinions;
Judge Turfe ruled that the videotape (of Wafer speaking to police after the shooting which led to his release with no charges) was inadmissible under Michigan Court Rules because Wafer could take the stand himself and be cross-examined.
Eh?
Judge allows a member of the victims dad’s church to remain as a potential juror. (Later sent packing probably without cause by the defense thereby eliminating one of the defense's preemptory challenges). IMO the jury selection process, considered one of the most important aspect of getting a fair trial in a case, is being done while putting the defense at a disadvantage.
JUDGE introduces the quandary of black people being disloyal to their race thereby emphasizing race in the trial.
Judge deems photos of Renisha showing her with marijuana, cash and a gun are inadmissible as they are too prejudicial. Judge does not allow texts that indicate Renisha was dealing drugs into evidence.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/no-selfies- ... -at-trial/Isn’t Renisha’s state of mind and behavior paramount to the claim by the prosecution that she was a simply damsel in distress politely seeking assistance? Isn’t past conduct a predictor of future conduct and wouldn’t Reshina’s conduct on Wafer’s porch be a key issue in an unbiased trial?
This sounds like the makings of a trial by prejudice. Guilty because white. The case is to come down to whether or not Reshina appeared to be a threat to Wafer, because of her behavior that was obviously influenced by her inebriated state.
So what else do we know?
We know we had a judge who had received contributions from the prosecution yet refused to recuse herself from the case which forced another judge to take the action of removing her for her (or at least her campaigns) fraternization with the prosecution.
We know Renisha’s blood alcohol was .22 far over the legal limit, we know that Renisha was speeding in her car which she crashed while intoxicated and that she left the scene of her crime. We know Reshina had been illegally drinking. We know she disappeared for quite a bit of time after fleeing the scene of the accident she caused. It is claimed and not disputed (as far as I know) that she tried to enter a home that was not her’s through two different doors. We know Wafer thought that at least one person was trying to enter his house through the door.
It seems Reshina has a history of alcohol and drug use.
We know that some members of society are trying to make this about race.
http://nation.time.com/2013/11/12/polic ... -shooting/Detroit community activist, Rev. Charles Williams II — a pastor of King Solomon and president of the Michigan chapter of the National Action Network — said at a community rally he organized on Nov. 9 with 200 attendees, “We cannot allow the moment of Travyon Martin to come and go. We cannot allow the moment of Renisha McBride to come and go,” the Detroit News reports.A scenario of what possibly happened, Wafer was woken up by someone trying to enter his home, his home is in an area where home break-ins are not unheard of. Wafer arms himself, and he investigates, he hears someone trying to open his door, he opens the door and an intruder is standing outside in the dark who has been causing a commotion and banging on his "doors” and Wafer in that flash second assumes the the person is trying to get access to his home, Wafer panics and shoots.
Horrible, terrible way to have one’s life ended but certainly not race motivated “
kill at will” as one zealots sign read. Reshina unfortunately bears the responsibility for consuming alcohol as a minor, consuming enough alcohol to reach a .22 blood alcohol content, driving while having a .22 blood alcohol content, causing an accident while OWI, unlawfully leaving the scene of an accident, approaching a house and pounding on doors while inebriated and putting a legitimate fright into the resident.
Does that me she deserved to die? Absolutely not. It means that she made a lot of foolish, unlawful and dangerous choices and it ended in the worst way possible, as bad, unlawful inebriated choices sometime do.
That said, would I have opened my door, no. I would have dialed 911 and kept my gun on the door and if it opened I would have shot. But I don’t know the full story. The devil will be in the details as to whether Wafer testifies that Reshina was trying to enter his home, what she was doing and saying and why he opened his door.
Did Wafer casually open his door and say “Oh look a young drunk black woman I think I’ll kill her.” Only the race baiters and their deluded followers can be so dull as to promote and respectively believe such nonsense.
