You can bet your bank account that Nel is going to try every gutter scraping tactic he has shown himself to use predictably with this sports agent of Oscar's. No low is beneath him and this is a devastating witness because for the first time there is corroboration that future plans were made with her and backed up by emails apparently.

Also this is someone who has interacted with him almost daily and knows his relationships intimately. It is absolutely imperative that Nel has to try to destroy this witness, which I don't think he has a chance in hell of doing. But with this paper trail showing that Reeva was special to Oscar, it sends a missile right through the heart of the State's case. Not only can they not prove an argument took place, which in itself turns the logic of why he would have a scintilla of motive to kill Reeva, but now everything that Oscar said in his testimony and the text messages she sent him wrap into a bulletproof package that they had a beautiful relationship together and Oscar introducing her to his neighbor as his fiance was the ribbon on the package.

This will be one of the dirtiest, sarcastic and most vile Gestapo style interrogations of any witness in this trial. You can bet he has talked to Sammantha and Gina and tried to conjure up any contradicting statement that he can twist or trick this sports agent into saying on the record, no matter how flaccid.

He doesn't care how he gets the words in the transcript because he will take them out of context and ignore 99% of what the witness has said to the contrary. His only motive is get words on record that he can quote or mold into his own interpretation.

I wanted to say it before it happens. I also want to say that I think he's vermin.

Nel may not have any more questions?

It is a bit daft to put so much effort into attacking such a witness. Essentially a character witness. We'll see.

As you say, aavi... NOTHING is beneath Nel.

Actually it's far more damaging than a character witness because of the emails that were sent to delegations requesting additional accommodations for Reeva to accompany him. This is independent factual unassailable proof of special feelings just before the event. Up until now Judge Masipa had nothing but Oscar's testimony to justify the emotional attachment he had to her. And Nel was constantly scraping and clawing at every nuance to show that the only person Oscar cared about was himself. But now it all comes together that his testimony was credible and Nel is in quicksand up to his neck. If Oscar had been planning these future events with her, just bought a new house to be closer to her and the texts make reference to it--even living on the beach of a small foreign country if necessary--and then further, she sends a text that tells her friends she's willingly staying at his house just 5 hours before she's killed, NONE of the sequitors line up that he would chase her down like a lion after a gazelle and kill her.

No matter what, the unilaterally unequivocally premier bottom line question in the judges will be asking themselves in deliberation is, why in the world would he want to inexplicably just barbarically snap and murder her? Without an answer to that question, the verdict has to be not guilty.

If this witness isn't neutralized and destroyed, the scales tip enormously toward accidental and unintentional. The already weak case is all but in the crapper.

I see all that.

However, playing devil's (Nel's) advocate... even in a "loving" relationship one person (the guy) can simply snap.... because they are abusive bastards really. (Wheel in Alyce La Violette, or the SA equivalent). Nel's point has been that despite any signs of a loving relationship, OP is really a seething verbal abuser, in the odd text and so generally in real life. And verbal abuse is sure sign of physical abuse, and of course murderous capability.

However again. I dont see how Nel can push all that by badgering this witness any more than he has. But again I do agree with your low opinion of Nel... so he might try. Then ask for an early tea break?

    1) Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp were in a 'loving and caring relationship'

    2) Sound expert cannot be sure witnesses heard woman's screams on night Steenkamp died

You were right aavi....

Nel has obviously been talking to Samantha and got wind of some emails and details of her travelling with OP

Can you imagine Nel getting this info... I imagine it was "orgasmic" for him

I will not use the phrase "cat who ate the cream" in reference to Nel... more like a dog who has come across an new ass to sniff

Sure, Nel and Sammantha are as close as Siamese twins. She would do anything to send Oscar to prison. She was slammed by him in his testimony when he said she cheated on him and that after that he never responded to her phone calls or emails whatsoever.

She was furious about being embarrassed and wrote that tweet that said something about "tell your last lies, it will be a long time before you tell another one" or something like that. Very quickly it was deleted from her Twitter. She salivates for revenge.

Van Zyl shut Nel down because he could not be directly connected with the events that Nel wanted to drill him with otherwise it would have been a replay of the same tactics with Pistorius. Nel was sniffing around like a badger looking for a dung beetle but there were no holes to crawl in. He had to take what little he could get and clambor off with his tail between his legs. :butt

Then:

Pyschiatrist's report:

A. None of the psychological traits of narcicism or psychopathy that are common in men who abuse or kill partners.

B. Psychiatric diagnosis at time of shooting - NONE :Gslap

As witness starts reading into evidence email from Mrs Kent... Nel objects... HEARSAY!! :stamp

Oldwage is cunning enough to have expected this.. he has copies of case law ready.. copies for Court and all :)

Oldwage: "It is NOT hearsay evidence" :neener

I believe he is doing what is known in SA legal circles as ... "Ripping Nel a new one" :slap

OBVIOUSLY this is a set-up to mess with Nel :)

Oldwage is the academic (case law) guy... no wonder he is handling this witness and the EXPECTED reaction by Nellie

Nel fell for it.

Psychologist says Oscar Pistorius is 'severely traumatised' and at risk of SUICIDE
Jul 02, 2014 10:39
By Anthony Bond

The 27-year-old is 'mourning the loss' of his model girlfriend and is suffering from a major depressive disorder and anxiety

Oscar Pistorius is 'severely traumatised' over the death of Reeva Steenkamp and could commit SUICIDE unless he receives clinical care, a psychologist told his murder trial.

The 27-year-old is 'mourning the loss' of his model girlfriend and is suffering from a major depressive disorder and anxiety.

The Paralympian's murder trial was also told he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder following Miss Steenkamp's death.

Details of Pistorius' fragile mental state were revealed in a psychologist's report which was read out in court by the athlete's defence team.

Over the past two days, Prosecutor Gerrie Nel has quizzed the athlete's manager about Pistorius' aggression.

But, according to the report read out in court, no evidence could be found that the athlete has a history of "abnormal aggression or explosive violence."

The report says Pistorius had genuine feelings for Miss Steenkamp and there is "no signs of abuse or coercion."

Paralympic team doctor Professor Wayne Derman also gave evidence in which he revealed Pistorius is an "anxious individual" .

He said "I have found him to be anxious in most interactions with myself and others."

Nel started out with what he thought was Châteaubriand to serve to the judge and now he's down to gristly, rancid, microscopic scraps.

ROFL

I REALLY hope the Judge allows this evidence in.

Not that I think it's all that important... not worried about it as "truth of the matter" nor even to support the rest of Prof. Derman's evidence....

It's importance lies mostly in it being allowed in JUST to Piss Nel off and mess with his head :lol

This IS going to go on for another day :wall

The norm is.. on the rare occasions they actually get as far as Lunch Time... they only do an hour max after lunch.

Even if Oldwage finishes (I doubt that)... Nel is BOUND to ask to adjourn until tomorrow.

I would not be at all surprised if Nel asks for a month off to write his closing argument. He would not have thought to work on notes as he goes along, nor actually do a draft while he was on vacation or the 6 week break for his daft Psych evaluation

Here's the girl Nel is all bent out of shape over

Image

Looks to me like she sure would be relevant to commenting on whether she would have knowledge of a debilitated limited mobility individual's reduced ability to confront danger and how it would affect her fight or flight response.
