The 27-year-old is 'mourning the loss' of his model girlfriend and is suffering from a major depressive disorder and anxiety.
The Paralympian's murder trial was also told he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder following Miss Steenkamp's death.
Details of Pistorius' fragile mental state were revealed in a psychologist's report which was read out in court by the athlete's defence team.
Over the past two days, Prosecutor Gerrie Nel has quizzed the athlete's manager about Pistorius' aggression.
But, according to the report read out in court, no evidence could be found that the athlete has a history of "abnormal aggression or explosive violence."
The report says Pistorius had genuine feelings for Miss Steenkamp and there is "no signs of abuse or coercion."
Paralympic team doctor Professor Wayne Derman also gave evidence in which he revealed Pistorius is an "anxious individual" .
He said "I have found him to be anxious in most interactions with myself and others."
