Recap of Live Blog for people who missed it (like me)
2:36 p.m. ET: The court is having a technical problem. The judge has decided to discuss an issue with the attorneys in her chambers. The live blog will pick back up when testimony resumes at 4:15 p.m. ET.
2:32 p.m. ET:
Martinez asked, "So you had the knife with you?"
"I didn’t have the knife at the time that we fell and at the time when he threatened my life," said Arias.
Martinez asked, "At the time you shot him, did you have the knife with you?"
"I did not," said Arias.
2:30 p.m. ET:
Martinez asked, "Given the time restraints here, and the fact that you didn’t know where the knife was, it would have been impossible for you not to have the knife with you when the attack happened, right?"
"I don’t understand that question, sorry," said Arias.
2:28 p.m. ET: Arias said she did not have the knife with her when she shot Alexander. The attorneys are now at another sidebar with the judge.
2:23 p.m. ET: The attorneys are at a sidebar with judge Stephens.
2:22 p.m. ET: Martinez said there's another reason why her scenario is impossible. Arias said she doesn't remember much after she shot Alexander.
Martinez said, “Under your scenario, in 62 seconds you get body-slammed, you do whatever you do but you get away. You run down the hallway, you go in the closet, you grab a gun, you back up, you shoot Mr. Alexander. After you shoot Mr. Alexander, you pick up the camera… and he’s already down the hallway with his throat slit."
2:21 p.m. ET: Martinez challenges Arias' scenario that she was slammed on the ground, found his gun, shot him, and slit his throat all within 62 seconds. Martinez is using the inadvertent photos from Alexander's camera to put conclude it took 62 seconds. Arias said the way Martinez describes it is not exactly true.
2:16 p.m. ET: Arias said she doesn't know how she got the knife or how long it took her to get it.
2:13 p.m. ET: Martinez said Arias had to go find the knife after she shot him. Arias said she doesn't know what happened. She said Alexander could have had the knife.
2:12 p.m. ET: Martinez is asking Arias where the knife was located in Alexander's bedroom. Arias said she doesn't know.
2:09 p.m. ET: Martinez is grilling Arias about her memory lapses. Arias said she doesn't know what or why she has lapses. She said she can only describe it the best way she can.
2:07 p.m. ET: Arias said she can't remember what happened shortly after Alexander began to yell at her.
2:05 p.m. ET: Martinez is asking Arias why she remembers Alexander yelling at her -- and that he was going to kill her, when she claims to have memory lapses when someone yells at her.
2:04 p.m. ET: Arias said she was scared for her life, and it was a high-stress situation.
2:03 p.m. ET: Arias said she doesn't know what happened after Alexander body slammed her, but she ran for his closet and got his gun. Martinez wants to know if Alexander had time to examine the camera after she dropped it.
1:59 p.m. ET: Arias is describing how Alexander grabbed her and body slammed her after she dropped the camera.
1:56 p.m. ET: Martinez is walking Arias through the accidental photos from Alexander's camera that may show the killing in progress.
"I remember saying that it was inadvertent," said Arias.
Martinez asked, "Oh so this is an inadvertent photograph, then?"
"Yes, that was not intentionally taken," said Arias.
1:52 p.m. ET: Martinez is asking Arias about how the fight with Alexander began on June 4, 2008, when she allegedly dropped his camera causing him to become enraged.
1:50 p.m. ET: Arias is taking the stand, testimony should begin shortly.
1:46 p.m. ET: The judge is off the bench, and it is not clear when court will resume.
1:41 p.m. ET: The attorneys are still at a sidebar with judge Stephens. Arias' defense has filed a motion to compel, but it not clear what it is about.
1:36 p.m. ET: Judge Sherry Stephens is on the stand, and the attorneys are at a sidebar.
1:27 p.m. ET: All the parties are in the courtroom, including Arias. Court should begin any moment.
1:13 p.m. ET: Jodi Arias should be back on the stand in just a few moments.
