I only skimmed the "document" but have seen chunks quoted.

It seemed OBVIOUS to me that the whole point of it is CYA for Comey.

In his position I would write out a narrative.. edit to get it right and avoid dropping myself in it. We all KNOW he is presenting (making up) a "Version" (as Nel would say) and he needs to get his version correct (and memorized)... lest he end up like Oscar Pistorious on the stand (not much chance of that... these Senators are not up to interrogation of a witness). It is a good move (from Comey's POV) to release his version.. and simply direct people to it (as you say Carm).. avoids needing to think up an answer "on the hop" that does not contradict his own BS

These are sentences taken from the Comey moron-a-thon statement. There is obviously stuff in-between but Comey is writing fiction. He knows it.
