I try and picture an overall view of the events of a crime... Sure look at the details and perhaps modify my view...but I see no point in wondering about stuff we don't know and probably will never know.

My overall picture is still.... GZ reporting a "suspicious" person and then trying to keep an eye on where he goes... with cops just minutes away.. so he can direct them when they arrive. I don't think GZ had any intention of confronting TM... and would have stayed well back if he had been able to keep him in sight. Hence I accept that TM confronted GZ...and a physical struggle ensued..... GZ shot TM in self defence.. there is not even a need to invoke SYG.

I still maintain this is an all too common event that was blown out of proportion and distorted in it's initial reporting.

This confuses me. A detective said on I.D. that it cannot be self defense when only one - has a gun.

Maybe he was right? The one with the gun - won.

I agree with your general assessment, Rumpole. I just have a gut feeling (for whatever that's worth) that Trayvon was a little full of himself and George was just doing his job. One thing I do know and that's that I hope somebody can prove exactly what really happened that day. It's a lot to ask for but it's what I want.

And Joni, I can think of situations where the threat coming from the gunless one could be equal to the threat of a gun, especially if it all happened fast and up close. The last thing I'd want to do would be to pull my gun and I could be overtaken by then.

Sadly.... this case will never "go away" no matter what the outcome is.... aquittal, SYG, or trial, guilty or not guilty

With the "evidence" so far I will feel aggrieved if GZ is convicted of ANYTHING.

And I imagine that the wilfully ignorant crowd will be still harping on years from now unless GZ is convicted of murder and given 20 + years in jail.

I was hoping unbiased eye witnesses would help here too, in addition to evidence and forensics.
Now we know they are changing their stories too.

I just don't know ... Hope we have some real justice here. We never got it for Caylee. I hope we get it for Trayvon.
Very difficult with a cast of liars, but that seems par for the course in murder cases.

The trial, if there is one and I do suspect they will have, can't come too soon!!

Just heard on TV, that right now there is a Florida Task Force reviewing/examining the Stand Your Ground Law.

They used to say that "ignorance of the law is no excuse". But if they're reviewing the Stand Your Ground law maybe they're looking for a loophole for Trayvon since he was a teenager. Maybe they want to say ...."how in the world could a child be aware of that law? He had no warning!" (If he'd just known who not to beat up!)

Shellie Zimmerman was arrested on charges of perjury in an official proceeding, relating to her testimony at her husband George Zimmerman’s bond hearing. Mrs. Zimmerman posted a $1,000 bond and has been released from jail. As it will be a conflict for the O’Mara Law Group to represent Mrs. Zimmerman, she we will retain independent counsel.

Okay, I don't know all the figures but whatever the bail amount was, couldn't they have just paid the 10% or whatever? And where was the attorney advising George? Maybe this is more evidence of George's innocence....too stupid to know it wouldn't take any time for them to find out where the money went....

What a shame Florida law did not extend to charging ANYBODY with perjury during the 3 year Anthony Circus?

We saw all manner of lies and contrivances.... the ANTS, especially Cindy, Joy Wray, Laura Buchannon, and the detectives who knew where Caylee's body was... on and on and on....people lying, refusing to answer questions, chewing gum like cows, etc... not a sniff of a contempt charge.

It was said at the time that to pursue perjury charges would be seen as petty amidst a murder trial and would prejudice KC getting a fair trial.

Seems the rules have changed.

So... we now have evidence (perhaps) that the Zimmermans tried to fudge their finances... not steal any money you understand, just not reveal how much they had!! And THAT IS PROOF that GZ lies about EVERYTHING and furthermore ensures his conviction for murder

Heavens...that means people who avoid/evade taxes, and actually try to defraud IRS (steal) are capable of ANYTHING!!

Trouble is... that covers almost EVERYBODY

There's an absolute feeding frenzy over this case. No trial even happening, yet sooooo much to talk about!!! Every little detail of George and his wife, etc, etc, etc, scrutinized ad nauseum. There but for the grace of God go I.

Dershowitz? What does he know? We'll for starters, he knows he's on the wrong side. And he's not going to give up. The Zimmerman's are lucky to have him on the right side and I can't wait to see what he's going to do about Ms Corey.

Zimmerman judge: Prosecutor must release Zimmerman's statements to cops

Within the next two weeks, the public will know exactly what George Zimmerman, in his own words, told authorities about the night he shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Judge Kenneth Lester on Tuesday issued an order granting, in part, a motion filed by several media companies -- including the Orlando Sentinel -- seeking to have evidence in the case released that had previously been withheld from the public.

Prosecutors argued that Zimmerman's statements to law enforcement should remain sealed, under an exemption in Florida's public records law that bars the release of confessions. Zimmerman admits to shooting the Miami Gardens teen but says he did so in self-defense.
After reviewing Zimmerman's statements, Lester concluded that they are not confessions.
Zimmerman "does not acknowledge guilt of the essential elements of the crime. The only element conceded by the defendant is that he shot and killed the victim, but he does not concede any other elements of second-degree murder."
Lester ordered the statements released within 15 days.

The Supreme Court held in United States v. Carll, 105 U.S. 611 (1881) that “in an indictment it is not sufficient to set forth the offense in the words of the statute, unless those words of themselves fully, directly, and expressly, without any uncertainty or ambiguity, set forth all the elements necessary to constitute the offense intended to be punished.” Vague wording, even if taken directly from a statute, does not suffice.
