Nel does not have another witness ready and so court adjourned until Monday.

Oscar Pistorius' sister Aimee is also talking to June Steenkamp, kneeling next to her to talk for several minutes.

June is nodding her head.

7:00 am
South African journalist Barry Bateman - who is working on a book about the Oscar Pistorius trial - says the Blade Runner has arrived in court this morning, and greeted June Steenkamp and her friend as he walked past.

She appeared to acknowledge him.

This would be in stark contrast to the first day of the case, when Pistorius is said to have refused to look Reeva's mum in the eye.

June said two weeks ago: “I wanted to see him and him to see me.

“I just felt that I had to do that. But he didn’t look at me or anything. He just walked straight and looked ahead."

“I wanted him to see me there, that I am there representing Reeva.”

6:37 am
Reeva's mum, June Steenkamp, has already arrived at the court house in Pretoria this morning.

Last week, Reeva's family and friends were left shocked and in tears when images of the model's body were accidentally flashed up on screen in the court room.

Day 11 gets under way.

The first witness is Sean Rens - a firearms expert from the International Firearm Training Academy.

He says he is involved in assessments for firearms licenses.

He says he knows Pistorius, after meeting him in 2012 through mutual friend Justin Divaris.

This is tedious and Nel is stretching it out.

OP was keen on guns and ordered a few... but cancelled after the incident. He filled out forms and passed proficiency requirements etc.... so what?

Pistorius wanted a "made in America" firearm, says Rens.

He adds that Pistorius also bought a semi-automatic assault rifle, pump-action shot gun, a pistol grip shot gun and .38 special revolver.

But the transaction for these firearms was cancelled "post the incident" - Reeva's death.

Pistorius takes notes as Rens tells the court the athlete had a "great love and enthusiasm" for guns.

7:37 am
Rens says Pistorius wanted to buy a specific Smith and Wessen 500 revolver.

Over a number of months, he bought a number of firearms from us, the witness adds.

Roux established that Op aimed low... when he could have aimed higher (to kill) also Collectors of firearms ten to be MORE responsible. Also "code red" is recommended if you hear noise (person) already in your house... go from room to room with gun drawn and ready to fire.

Asked about when lethal force can be used, Pistorius said: "The attack must be against you, must be unlawful, it must be against the person."

Rens then says he met Pistorius 10 or 12 times.

He says the accused once told him he went into "code red" or "combat mode" when he heard something in the house, but it was only the tumble dryer making a noise.

7.58AM
Pistorius was asked for gun assessment, if someone broken into his home late at night should be discharge his firearm.

He replied: "No."

He answered "yes" when asked if he would fire if the intruders were armed and advanced on him, leaving him in fear of his life.

Another question asks if someone breaks into your home and starts stealing your hifi, can you shoot? Pistorius said "No".

The firearm exam ruled the athlete studied also warned "never fire into the air".

When asked to explain the importance of target ID, the accused said: "Know your target and what lies beyond."

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel is trying to demonstrate how well Pistorius knows the Firearms Control Act in South Africa.

8:16 am
Defence barrister Barry Roux is now on his feet to cross-examine Rens.

He is asked about Black Talon ammunition, which the witness says is "less lethal".

Rens says people who collect firearms are "upstanding people".

He tells the court they teach people that if you heard a noise which was already inside your house, you would draw a firearms and go from room to room to find out what the noise was.

Roux has no further questions.

Under re-examination by Nel Rens says a normal person, for self defence, can acquire four firearms.

Before meeting Rens, Pistorius had one 9mm pistol.

Rens is then excused from the witness box.

The next witness is police photographer warrant officer Bennie Van Staden.

Van Staden has 21 years experience with police and eight years in the photographic section.

He says he is on stamd-by for any crime scene that needs to be photographed.

On February 14 2013, he was called to attend the scene at Pistorius' house at 4.50am.

Van Staden says he went into the garage, where it was just him and Pistorius.

He explained he would be taking his photographs.

The witness says: "I asked the accused if he had washed his hands and he said yes."

8:32 am
When he arrived at the scene, Van Stadan says he met up with Detective Botha who took him "through the scene". He asked Botha to clear the scene of people so he could take photographs.

The pictures are stored on an SD card and they show the date and time when taken.

The witness says he did not delete any pictures taken and they were handed into the admin clerk.

8:37 am
We are once again being shown the pictures of Pistorius, topless and wearing a pair of bloodied shorts.

We are told they were taken and 5.12am.

At 5.23am, he took a picture of "the deceased" as he found her at the bottom of the stairs.

Blank screens flash up in court with captions as they look at "place and position of deceased".

Van Staden says there was damage to Reeva's black vest as he took a picture - a hole.

Next, they look at blood stain going up the staircase.

8:41 am
A close-up of Pistorius' prosthetic legs shows them covered in blood and damaged, with the fake skin scraped off exposing stark white in places.

Reeva's mum, June Steenkamp, leaves the courtroom.

As I listen to Nel questioning witnesses, it has got so that one listens to what is being said, but to make full sense of it all we await Roux's questioning.

Next is a picture of the cartridge casing on carpet near the entrance to the bathroom.

9:11 am
Van Staden says he opened up the duvet cover in the bedroom because there were blood spots on it.

He says he photographed flipflops and an overnight bag in the position he found them in.

Now seeing blood spots which were found on the wall over the bed headboard.

9:07 am
A picture of the main bedroom door shows a small hole in it and a split at the bottom. An air rifle is kept just behind the bedroom door.

We also see images of Pistorius' bed, which has a mess of tangled wires on the floor next to it from the fam and chargers.

Van Sraden says he found a magazine with bullets and pouch from the right hand bedside drawer, near the sliding door.

There is also a picture of syringes on the chest of drawers in the bedroom and box of coenzyme compostium.
