12.30 Baba says that Oscar was carrying Reeva from the top floor to the ground floor.

12.28 He regained consciousness but says he missed some points as to how he was carrying Reeva. Stander called "Oscar".

12.24 Baba says then he saw Pistorius "coming down" Reeva. He then fainted.

12.24 Baba told his colleague that everything was not fine. The estate manager Mr Stander then arrived at Mr Pistorius's house with his daughter. Baba says "i could see on their faces something had happened."

12.22 Baba says he then spoke to Pistorius and pistorius said, "everything is fine". That is when Baba says he realised that Pistorius was crying. He realised that "not everything was in order" despite what Mr Pistorius had said to him. Baba said he tried to speak to Mr Pistorius again to check that everything was ok but the phone call ended. Then Pistorius called him back and cried down the phone. The line went off again.

12.33 Baba being cross examined by Roux now. He says that guards are supposed to patrol the houses every hour.

12.53 The court is taking a break for the weekend, the judge wants to start at 9.30 am but Nel wants to start at 10 because Monday "has its own character". Judge doesn't allow him this "one indulgence" so 9.30 it is.

12.50 Roux asking if Baba remembers making a statement to the police the day after the incident. He asks Baba to recount the cnversation. Baba says he said Mr Pistorius said to me 'security, everything is fine."

12.48 Roux saying that Mr Pistorius made a call to the security cell number at 3.21 am. Baba agreed and says that was the time Pistorius was crying and didn't want to speak to him. Roux says that Baba's phone call with Pistorius was 3.24 am- questioning the timings of the conversations.

12.44 Roux said there was another call to Baba from a neighbour at 3.16 am, he agrees and said they also spoke about the gunshots.

12.43 Roux is saying that Dr Stipp made the call at 3.15 am. Mr Baba agrees that they spoke for 16 seconds. he said he told him there were gunshots and I must come and see where the shots were coming from.

12.39 Baba says that at 2.20 am on the night in question, everything seemed normal. Roux reluctant to read the security phone number after what happened in court earlier this week. Baba says he cannot remember the number off by heart.

Summary of day five

• Witness Johan Stipp, who lived in Silverwoods estate 72 metres away from Pistorius’s home, recounted the sequence of events he heard and witnessed from his balcony

• Defence lawyer Barry Roux and prosecutor Gerrie Nel questioned Pistorius’s ex-girlfriend, Samantha Taylor, who spoke about her experience of his use of firearms and the sound of his screams

• Court was adjourned twice after Taylor broke down in tears, when Roux asked her about the end of her relationship with Pistorius

• Witness Pieter Baba, a security guard on duty the night of Reeva Steenkamp’s murder, testified what he saw and heard from neighbours and in Pistorius’s house after the gunshots were fired

• Baba’s said that Pistorius tearfully told him “everything is fine” after neighbours reported hearing gunshots fired in Pistorius’s house. This became a point of contention for Roux, who asked for clarification on the sentence several times

• Overall, proceedings moved slightly faster than Thursday and were halted by adjournments and issues of pedantry from previous witness statements
