I am going into this trial NOT knowing the evidence details at all. I am mentally... much like I would hope Jury members would be.

I have no emotional commitment to Dunn or strong feelings one way other the other.

I do have the bias that I dislike Corey, and consider her to be a dishonest prosecutor.. so maybe I may well deserve to be excluded as a juror? (If they asked the right questions). Also with the Traybot Worrier lynch Mob already declaring Dunn guilty.. I do tend to be looking for them to be proved wrong... but that is just a "fun issue" to contemplate online. IF I were in the position of a real candidate for Jury duty... I could put Traybots out of my mind. They are only a funny side show that I could easily ignore.

As far as multiple shots while car retreating. I am no expert... but I assume that was still a burst of fire over a few seconds? And in police shootings etc that I have seen.. often its multiple shots... lots of them... seems that once you get started you can go into "auto-fire" mode and keep pumping shots?

Attorney John Phillips is on twitter complaining that Jordan and friends are being defamed by Dunn's lawyer

Dunn's attorney, Cory Strolla, said he firmly believes "the truth will finally prevail on behalf of Michael Dunn in trial."

"We fully expect that the testimony of the young men will prove that they conjured up a story four days after the incident to protect their friend, Jordan Davis, from his threats and violent actions against Mr. Dunn," Strolla said.

"They intentionally misled detectives regarding Jordan Davis' actions and verbal threats, and the detectives allowed for the misinformation to continue despite having evidence that the young men's stories were not truthful," he said. http://www.thespectrum.com/usatoday/article/5127061

Thanks KK
The evidence WILL be interesting I am sure... like I say I can muster up an open mind on this one... prepared to view the evidence as an impartial Juror should.

What also caught my eye at your link...

Quote:
Jury selection begins at 9 a.m. EST Monday. Those proceedings will not be televised, and journalists will not be permitted inside the fourth-floor courtroom.

News organizations are making arrangements to set up satellite trucks at a "media city" next to the Duval County Courthouse lawn. Credentials were approved for 178 journalists from 24 news organizations, the Northeast Florida Media Committee reported Friday.

So... no live Court stream... but I will still do my best to update. Shame. Jury selection is always a critical part of the Trial. I want to see a fair Jury selected... no stealth jurors with repressed Traybotism.

Let The Games Begin - "Ave, Imperator, morituri te salutant"

My "cunning plan" once the trial starts is to have a thread (threads) just to follow live Court proceedings... update and comments as the day unfolds.. links to live steaming, tweets, live blogs etc.

I would like to keep that thread for just the daily court events.. so that it is a reference to look back on.

General discussion (pontification) about the case can still proceed in this thread... so probably post back here once the Court adjourns for the day.

This "Cunning Plan" has worked well in the past....... trust me :cool

Just thinking out loud... it could be something .... it could be nothing but,

With the Dunn trial starting tomorrow I find it extremely odd that the Davis family lawyer John Phillips has spent exponentially more time obsessing over what George Zimmerman is up to than focusing on what he was hired for. Can we make an inference from this that he does not expect a favorable outcome?

Could be because he already settled the civil suit over Dunn. And wasn't he suppose to be an attorney for the AP photo dude? That's prob why he so "into" GZ.
I don't think Phillips has anything to do with the trial tho. Kinda like Chump. JMHO

Rumpole, not sure if you have this link, but here it is. it is the new link they have up for Michael Dunn at the Duval Clerk of the Court. Much like they did with GZ and KC. I know you will put where needs to be if you don't have.

Jury selection begins in Dunn trial
Public not allowed inside courtroom for hearing
Author: Samantha Rambeau

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
Jury selection begins Monday in the case against Michael Dunn, accused of murdering 17-year-old Jordan Davis in a November 2012 dispute over loud music.

Dunn claimed he shot in self defense after seeing a gun inside the vehicle Davis was riding in. Authorities found no gun in the SUV.

Media fight for access to Dunn Trial continues
Anne Schindler, First Coast News 11:18 a.m. EST February 3, 2014

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- According to the U.S. Supreme Court, criminal proceedings -- including jury selection -- "must be open to the public."

But that argument, made today by lawyers for First Coast News and The Florida Times-Union, clearly frustrated Judge Russell Healey, who noted it was "not even 11th hour" but just minutes away from the start of the Michael Dunn trial. "I hear what you're saying," he said, but added that he thought the question of media exclusion from the courtroom during jury selection "had been settled."

Attorney George Gabel argued that a representative presence of media was essential to fairly report the case and give the public confidence in the criminal justice process. His argument was based on Supreme Court case law, but at apparent odds with concessions made by the Northeast Florida Media Committee.

That group has been working with court administrators to wire the courthouse for audio and video broadcast, and had agreed that the media would listen to proceedings from an adjacent courtroom.

lol well Crump had SO much to do with the trial people thought he was the prosecution. I don't get Dunn agreeing to settle..couldn't have been for much. The parents (allegedly) said the sooner they settled, the sooner they could get closure? FFS

Jordan Davis' parents settle lawsuit with son's alleged killer, Michael Dunn
Dunn’s insurance company, Progressive Select Insurance, has also been challenging its duty to cover the lawsuit, and on Dec. 18 asked for extra time while it explained why the company shouldn’t be held responsible. In his criminal trial, Dunn has been declared broke.
Phillips said that case will soon be dismissed as well.

I think a key point in this case is going to be if Dunn used excessive force. Even if they can argue SYG they might not be able to get past excessive force. Just a guess, but the more women on the jury, the more of a chance of them saying "well, yes he might have been in fear for his life, but shooting that many shots at a car, is excessive"

Property Owner Doriana d'Aragona Atkinson sent Philips an email Friday, asking him to remove the painting.

"John, I have received multiple calls about a sign that has been placed on my property," the email (pictured, below) read. "Please have the sign removed before the end of the day today. Your prompt cooperation will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Doriana d'Aragona Atkinson."Email

Phillips sent Channel 4 a response Friday night about the painting's removal:

"The art was not illuminated and was merely designed to be up for trial. It had no verbal messages and was simply a tribute-art designed by another. We had no intent to upset anyone or violate any sign ordinance, nor did we receive anything but positive feedback.

Thirty-six jurors were excused on Monday. Another 30 will be added on Tuesday to bring the pool size to 130. This process will start up at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.
