so it was not a screen door it was a glass door he shot thru? or was the screen in place at the time? I know this seems like a little detail, but, well the devil is in the details. :)

This is my door shot from one of the news stories (I added a screen door for comparison)

...the second are the pics I compared of Renisha's house (left) and Wafer's house (right)...Could she have been confused thinking it was her house she was trying to get into? Both are on the same corner on the same side of the street.

This is the door now...they removed it completely...pretty much clarifies which door he shot through.

Thanks Rumpole...next time I promise to :RTFM :26 (did I blow the margins?)

Thanks for the pics, renewsit..... there will be no stopping you now :)

I held back on the :RTFM ... didn't want to discourage you so early on. :cool

But be warned..... I have a wet fish and am not afraid to use it :fish

You CAN'T blow the margins (as seen by me... it does depend on browser and screen you are viewing on)... there is a size limit... you may get an error message if pic is too wide (greater than 1020pxls)..... in which case resize and try again.

It's difficult for me to understand how she wouldn't notice that the gables, shingle colors and stair direction are different, and one has an awning and chairs at the front and the other doesn't. (I've only been really drunk once decades ago.)

That's because you are too much of a "goody two shoes" Mal :69

Being drunk and confused, I CAN understand. :95

And being in that much of a state.... being loud and antagonistic/belligerent..... I can imagine her making quite a lot of noise and so alarming Wafer woken at 4:00AM

Maybe she was really pissed because she thought someone stole her chairs.

ok back to those damn doors! 1st was it screen or glass he shot thru? and 2nd if she was banging on the side door she didn't realize there was no fence? cmon no matter how drunk, the accident happened hours ago, people remember things like that in their subconscious or somewhere lol the brain is remarkable.

He shot thru screen.

Very drunk people (which BAC suggests McBride was) CAN be very confused, minor or even major "landmarks" or "subconscious" memories would not be an issue.... for instance....pee in a wardrobe, or just anywhere in a room thinking they are in the bathroom... it can be a sort of half-coma, almost sleep walking thing.... but we will never know exactly what state she was in. I think the BAC and Wafer's testimony will be sufficient though to suggest she was creating a commotion... which would be alarming for any reasonable person awakened at 4:00AM

that is certainly true about half-coma, etc. but it was hours after the crash, which should of have some sobering effect, did she continue to drink? and where were the police all this time? I dunno… inquiring minds, lol

Yes... she "sobered up" from what would have been an even higher BAC at time of crash (unless she carried on drinking?). It is a possibility (guess) that she passed out behind the wheel and crashed into a parked car? The crash "woke her up". I have seen drunks and even been a drunk... they can be walking around barely awake... often doing stuff they will later have no memory of. We do not know how bad she was... but the BAC measured post-mortem and her young age suggests to me that she was likely quite a mess as far as her erratic behaviour goes.

http://www.clickorlando.com/news/winter ... index.html

Quote:
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - A Winter Haven woman was arrested on Monday after shooting her daughter while she was holding her 4-month-old child.

Adele Bing, 52, told police that she had been in a physical altercation with her boyfriend earlier during the day when she heard banging and kicking at the front door. Believing it to be her boyfriend returning to harm her, Bing armed herself with a baseball bat and a 22-caliber handgun.

Bing told police that she was opening the door when the gun discharged, shooting her daughter in the chest and killing her. The daughter was holding her 4-month-old child who fell to the ground but was uninjured, according to police reports.

Witnesses told police that they saw Bing cradling her dying daughter in her arms, slapping her and screaming her name.

Bing was charged with second-degree murder and child abuse without great bodily harm.

Clearly this must be a hate crime and she only shot her because she was a black girl at her door. She must just be making up a story that she was afraid and when she opened the door the gun went off by mistake.

Thanks Mung... the comparison is interesting.

The charge of Murder2 seems wrong here too... but we don't know the details.

Murder 2 is, IMO, all kinds of wrong. I can see involuntary manslaughter and, depending her prior record if any, there should be a light sentence. If she had no criminal record, it wouldn't be right (to me) to put away for 10-20 years.

The whole situation is just sad.

From renewsit... the complete (redacted) police report....

Police Report: Renisha McBride Shooting

Police Report from the night Renisha McBride was shot and killed by Theodore Wafer. Oddly this report states the gunshot was at close range - the medical examiner's report states the shot was not at close range. Also listed as items taken from Renisha's car were a cell phone charger and a cell phone (pg 6).

A witness who was sitting in a parked car told police that Renisha was going at a very high speed and crashed into another parked car - her air bags deployed. Renisha had a cut on her finger.

Glad they got her phone... but if she left it in her car the ping logs (ha ha) are not going to help answer questions about her wandering after the drunken crash...

There is an awful lot of redacted bits... wonder what they are hiding?

In the beginning, names, addresses, MI DL # and personal information.

I am thinking the bottom half might be witness statements from neighbors.

In all reality...I have no idea. Speculation at its finest.

Analysis: Self-Defense Claim May be Legally Weak in Michigan Porch Shooting
Posted by Andrew Branca
Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 8:16pm

Earlier this month, a man allegedly shot a woman through the front screen door of his porch when the woman knocked or banged on it after reportedly crashing her car nearby in suburban Detroit, Michigan. The case has since made news headlines.

I’ve been asked repeatedly to comment on the purported self-defense shooting by Theodore Wafer of Renisha McBride in Michigan, and now that the factual situation appears to have stabilized a bit it seems suitable fare for the Thanksgiving weekend.

Most of you will know that I was a vigorous supporter of George Zimmerman’s legal claim of self-defense in his shooting of Trayvon Martin. I also consider myself very much a member of the self-defense community, being an NRA instructor in personal protection (and other stuff) for ~20 years, a long-term competitor in the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA# 13; to provide context, membership now exceeds 20,000), and someone who arms himself as a routine matter of personal protection.

That said, the facts as currently available to me, considered in the context of Michigan self-defense law, suggests that Theodore Wafer is going to have considerable difficulty in successfully advancing a claim that the shooting of Renisha McBride was in lawful self-defense.

One caveat: The “facts” on which I rely are derived from the press, so as always should be taken with a grain of salt. I have, where possible, relied upon press sourced in the UK, rather than the widely discredited US press.

Didn't we learn from the TM autopsy that no can agree on terminology when it comes to how far a gun was from who or what was shot?

What? No fish?? Sorry...

The reports also describe the door with glass and screen. Interesting that they put it back together.
