Thanks for the reminder, SheStone.
It could be another procedural bit of nothing... but I hope it is much more... charges dismissed?

I would be surprised if the State dropped this.

Is today the day for #Justice4Shellie?

I hope so, Chip!

Does anyone know if today's proceedings will be streamed live anywhere?

Un-freaking-believable. I am so very, very disappointed.

Even though I didn't feel she was guilty of perjury, I've always expected her to get a pretrial diversion (probation).

I think the best way to look at this is that everything on the criminal side is behind them and they can move on. I expect the civil portion (NBC and whoever else they can sue) is coming in the very near future.

Then they should have asked for donations. This is not a good move, imo, for several reasons, not the least of which is a permanent felony conviction on Shellie's record.

See, that's the thing, LondoJowo - pleading guilty to a felony means it is never behind them, or at least her, for the rest of her life. Fighting this and being exonerated would have been extra ammo in a civil suit too. I can't help but feel they agreed to this to try to assuage the masses, kwim? If they take this "guilty" plea, then the Trayborg™ and the media (but I repeat myself) will leave them alone. As if. This will just add more fodder for the Trayborg™/media. :wall

I sure hope this is not true. :doh

But, if it is, look on the bright side, it may save MOM's butt. :TF (Sarcasm, if it isn't clear already)

Shellie can now say "bye bye" to her CCW.

Dumb, dumb move.

Yes, exactly.

Until it's confirmed by a credible source, I'm going to hope it's not true.

"It was a negotiated deal, designed to avoid a felony conviction. The 26-year-old was a nursing student nearly done with her schooling at the time of her arrest. Had she been found guilty of a felony — the perjury charge she was facing — she would have been banned from applying to become a nurse for three years.

The deal also requires her to write a letter of apology to Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr., the judge to whom she was accused of lying, and to serve 100 hours of community service.

The official charge filed against Shellie Zimmerman is perjury during an official proceeding - of lying during one of her husband's bond hearings last year. That's a third-degree felony, which carries a possible five-year prison term."
