I now see a couple of comments (at CTH) questioning if it really is GZ in the photo?

Looks Kosher to me.... :40

Good choice. Concealed carry with a trench coat over body armor. Wear an old man mask and win the knockout game in style.

This questioaire solicits people "Upset" by the verdict.... but it does in fact inquire about some of the REAL facts of the case that Traybots wilfully repressed, denied, ignored... worth doing the survey IMO

A Few Questions for Those
Upset by the Zimmerman Verdict

(This survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete)
Last Updated: 7/29/2013, 4:58 PM PST

Here's some quick background:
The primary issue in the Zimmerman Trial was whether there was enough evidence to conclude that Zimmerman may have legitimately acted in self-defense. During the trial, it wasn't necessary for the defense team to absolutely prove that Zimmerman acted in self-defense -- just that there was enough evidence (or lack of contrary evidence) to believe it was reasonably possible.

Zimmerman's defense claim is basically this:
Quote:
Zimmerman was in his car when he spotted Trayvon Martin acting strange (wandering in the rain and staring at the houses), so he called the police. After seeing Zimmerman in his car, Martin started running off down the walkway between some of the buildings. Zimmerman then got out of his car but lost sight of Martin after a few moments. He continued in the same direction as Martin for a few hundred feet either to try to see where Martin went or to check the street name to give an address to the police (or both).

Zimmerman says he lost sight of Martin, but since the dispatcher advised him not to continue following, he started walking back to meet the police. Martin then approached him from behind and said "Yo, you got a problem?" Zimmerman said "No, I don't have a problem" and looked down to find his phone in his pants pocket to call the police. Martin then said "Well, you do now" and punched Zimmerman in the face. Zimmerman was knocked to the ground while Martin got on top of him and started hitting him and bashing his head into the ground. Zimmerman says that when Martin saw his gun he tried to grab it saying "You're going to die tonight, motherf***er" so he only fired the gun in self-defense, believing his life was in danger.

If that version of events was true, then Zimmerman had a legitimate self-defense claim. Martin would not have been justified in attacking him because he could not have reasonably thought he was being threatened by a guy walking back to his car, especially after he responded with "No" when Martin asked "You got a problem?"

If, however, Zimmerman lied about what happened and had actually confronted Martin and attacked him first (or intentionally tried to provoke him into fighting), he could not legitimately claim self-defense.

Many people believe, based on limited information gathered from the news media, that Zimmerman must be lying because they believe he was a racist who racially profiled Martin and followed him with the intention of killing him, or at least provoking a fight. Many believe Trayvon Martin was too young or too small to have attacked Zimmerman or that he had no history of violent behavior. They are convinced the jury made the wrong decision.

If you are one of those people, here are a few questions for you!

Keep in mind that if the jury concluded, based on the evidence, there was even a reasonable chance Zimmerman's version of events was true, they were obligated to find him "not guilty".

I think that the above survey may have value as a psychometric test. Perhaps the questions need to be reworded so that "Yes" and "No" answers are required, rather than just "Yes" to indicate knowledge of the facts.

But even as it stands it is a GREAT test of the psychiatric condition we have all observed over the past 18 months... a nasty variation of combined psychoses we have called "Traybotism"

I think any "No" answers at all point to a mild dose of Traybotism... perhaps 5 would indicate need of some sort of counselling/therapy, and anyone who scores more than 5 is in need of urgent intervention, and committal to a psychiatric Institution. :eek

flgirl543 (and everyone else) -

Maybe when writing to editors, etc. we should be blaming the media for recent hate crimes? They fanned these false racial flames. Now that there have been multiple fires, they should have it pointed out to them that it's their own handiwork, and their duty to do something to slow it down - such as some fair reporting on GZ and the truth of the case.

Ditto. He looks great. Looks like he's gotten some of that weight off, both physically and also some of the mental/emotional weight, despite his current circumstances. :D

This article by Jack Cashill talks a lot about GZ:

How Responsible Is Obama for the Oklahoma Killing?

Finally read that article, Puzzler. He says what I've been trying to say - bored, uninterested people believe what the media is telling them to believe; it explains all of the bad stuff that happens to and around them; and it gives them an excuse to act on their worst impulses, even pre-exonerating them for their crimes, claiming justification.

If you were told all of your life, and saw on the media constantly, that all liesels are out to get all Puzzlers, etc. etc.; and rarely, if ever saw any countervailing info, it would take a much stronger and much-more-mature-than-most-teens personality, to swim against that tide, kwim? If you had been convinced by the same culture and media that all liesels are above the Rumpole law*, and all Puzzlers were inches away from constant moderation, then it wouldn't take much to confirm it for you. One little note from Rumpole at the bottom of one of your posts... something meant as a tease or a joke from Maltese Mama... It would fit into what you'd been taught all of your life, kwim?

I blame the media and the race hustlers. I hope GZ's NBC suit starts moving forward soon, and creates a new atmosphere. Frankly, I hate new laws. I mean, I really, really hate new laws. We have more than enough. Congress shouldn't be enacting new laws, they should be repealing them. I am terrified of any limitations on the 1st amendment, including any related to a totally free press. However, I would be very interested to see some sort of legislation creating at least a civil cause of action for those harmed by the race hustlers and the media. They've been abusing the authority and power entrusted to them for much too long; absolutely ruining the lives of innocent people. GZ and his family were not the first and won't be the last. But maybe this could be the beginning of the end of doing it with no accountability for their actions.

*FTR - at any given moment, it's much more likely the exact opposite is what's really going on! You've all seen those, "LIESEL! To MY OFFICE!" posts... :D

ZIMMERMAN VERDICT PART 15: TALK AT THE SCENE, TALK ON THE STAND?

Many advise people involved in shootings to say nothing to the police. I’m not among them. I’ve seen too many cases where declining to speak is heard as “I ain’t sayin’ nuttin’ ‘til my mouthpiece gets here,” and only the bad guy’s side of the story gets told or assumed. I do recommend that people caught up in these things tell the responding officers the nature of the attack on them which forced them to fire, and indicate that they’ll sign a complaint on the perpetrator. I also recommend pointing out evidence and witnesses, because both tend to disappear otherwise. From there on, I strongly suggest that they advise the police that they’ll fully cooperate after they’ve spoken with counsel.

Zimmerman did otherwise...

It's so funny (and incredibly hypocritical) that the same people who make death threats are now freaking out over GZ shotgun shopping.

Unless their threats were serious and they don't want to see his new shotgun up close and personal.
