The couple pulled from their upturned SUV by George Zimmerman are Dana and Mark Gerstle, MailOnline can reveal.

The rescue took place on Wednesday after a series of frantic 911 calls following the incident on a stretch of Florida highway just yards from where Zimmerman shot 17 year old Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman, acquitted of all counts against him on July 13, has been in hiding since the controversial finding that has ignited America and brought thousands onto the streets of America.

Father of two, Mr Gerstle, 52, was driving onto the off ramp of the highway when he lost control of the vehicle resulting in the terrifying crash that left him, his wife and two children aged eight and four trapped.

Neither he nor his 41-year-old wife chose to comment on their extraordinary brush with the now infamous Neighborhood Watch Captain.

Zimmerman did not witness the accident which took place at 5.47pm but was on the scene shortly afterwards.

Though he spoke with his lawyers on Friday he did not make any mention of the rescue.Speaking to MailOnline Shawn Vincent, a spokesman for Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara said: ‘We spoke with George on Friday and he made no mention of this at all. That’s very typical of George.

‘He has a history of getting involved….it’s just the way he is.

‘There has already been the backlash of people saying this is some sort of PR stunt but it isn’t. We’ve had it confirmed by the Sheriff.’

Here's @SeminoleSO's statement on #GeorgeZimmerman's involvement in rescuing a family from a crash last week: "On Wednesday, July 17 at approximately 5:45 p.m., the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a single car accident in the area of 1-4 and SR 46 in Sanford, Fla. A blue Ford Explorer SUV had travelled off the road and rolled over. There were four occupants inside – two parents and two children. SCSO’s responding deputy reported that when he arrived, two men - one of whom was George Zimmerman - had already helped assist the family by getting them out of the overturned vehicle. Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash and left after making contact with the deputy. There were no report of injuries to the vehicle occupants"

"Murder" is accepted as fact... but the rescue is "alleged" *sigh*

Just thinking the only thing better than George helping rescue those people would have been if the people in the SUV were Crump, NatJack, Parks and Sybrina. What a predicament that would have been.

Watching part 2 of NG and Sybrinia...how curious...some new photos, some we have already seen, and most are when Trayvon was just a little kid. Kinda confrims Trayvon was out of her life for a number of years just like Tracy's ex claims.

I know, they are just rehashing over and over lets get down to the good stuff

When I watched the very first media interview of Sybrina, it was obvious to me that she did not know anything about her son. As reporters are wont to do, they asked many questions about her son who just lost his life, and Sybrina could not answer those questions.

It's so obvious that this is not about justice for Trayvon, it's about the 2nd amendment and SYG/Castle Doctrine laws.
