It looked to me that she could not READ at all.... handed documents during her testimony.. some of that was typed.

IMO she can neither read nor write.

She is clearly NOT a "smart cookie" she has a LOW IQ... I would say has some sort of "learning problem"

That is what I have wondered all along. Although, it seems that she can read texts, or maybe not.

Can SHE read texts? There is still uncertainty about which DD did what.

Maybe she can read short texts? But still not read a simple paragraph.

I do think it would be very revealing to give her some very simple psych tests... basic IQ and reading/writing/comprehension are easily checked.

I don't think anyone here is feeling sorry for RJ. To the contrary, it seems the consensus here is that she's a dope. (Unless I missed a post?)

Since she's such a brazen liar it would be nothing to her to actually read her words in a transcript then deny saying them and claim the court reporter made an error. So, that's not exactly proof of her inability to read. Not saying it would surprise me, though.

I have spent a lot of time with ESE (Exceptional Student Education) and worked with children with a wide variety of challenges, even blindness. Developmentally Delayed students (formerly known as "retarded"), at least the ones I've worked with, have all been able to learn sight words and eventually read at < 1 reading level all the way up to 4.something reading level, depending on their individual abilities and length of time/amount of time they're in class. (Some students are so ill they may miss months of school, or frequently miss days due to their illness/challenge, or have regular therapy days that conflict with school hours.)

There are some things in RJ's demeanor and apparent abilities that would cause me to suspect she's an ESE student. OTOH, all of the challenged students I have known, without exception, are just the sweetest, kindest, most good hearted little people you could ever hope to be around. Of course, I work with kids in elementary school, and with severely challenged students, so she could still be an ESE student that is receiving services more due to socialization/home life, than developmental delay, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, or the myriad other conditions with which I'm more familiar.

RJ's manipulative, lying, just plain rotten, nature, imo, doesn't fit in with the kids I've known.

I should add - the socialization/home life kids usually don't stay very long in ESE. They're brought up to speed and then mainstreamed.

Good point - I'd guess she'd be pretty motivated to read/write texts and she has a twitter account. She may have someone else posting tweets, reading/writing texts for her, but it seems a lot of trouble.

None of which, of course, explains "the letter" satisfactorily. It may be as has been previously suggested, the letter was written in hopes RJ's lying services would no longer be required. Or, the letter could have been as manufactured as everything else about her "memories".

I have come across "slow learners" who I would not condemn usually.

I think Rachel is "intellectually challenged" but with the addition of rorting the system, before and after this event.

I dont think ANY of the DeeDee's have a hope in hell of actually remembering the detail of what they heard on the phone with TM on 26th Feb 2012.
Even less chance of remembering than Shipping Bao has. He at least has "notes"

The original DD might have remembered a bit (not all) and could have been carefully interviewed to retrieve some memory... but a LOT of time has passed AND she (they) have had any memories contaminated by being fed false leading suggestions, and by blatant coaching. This DD is "remembering" what she has been told and what she remembers she said herself (true or not)... at the time she was probably in CYA mode.. trying to spin a story that at least left her out of any blame (eg if she told TM to not be a pussy mamma's boy, and go put the bangas on the creepy ass cracka)
Shipping Bao was actually trying to make some valid points... human memory IS very fragile. Nobody can actually remember a phone conversation they had over a year ago.. certainly not DD who may well have had millions of similar phone conversations.
