Just as likely as any other scenario.

I see no reason for hand-wringing. I see the probabilities as:

99% - Not Guilty
0.9% - Hung Jury
0.1% - Guilty

Like everyone else, I want a Not Guilty verdict returned, as quickly as possible. But the process has to play out.

Hi Chip... back to speculating? :)

I go along with you generally.... but since the individual jurors are mostly unknowns to me... I would tweak the numbers a bit.
With 6 unknowns and it only taking ONE to hang the jury.. I would up the "Hung" percentage (just a guess)

Perhaps:
94.9% - Not Guilty
5.0% - Hung Jury
0.1% - Guilty

I've been meaning to bump these posts since the verdict. Wow, Chip and Rumpole. Especially knowing what we now know from B37, you were so very, very accurate! They did start with a 50/50 split, 3 for guilty of something, 3 not guilty, so they were much more likely to hang than to convict. And ultimately, of course, they acquitted, such as the 90+% probability you estimated.

We Are All Trayvon Martin. Really?

“We are all Trayvon Martin,” read signs displayed at protests. Let’s take some time, like the jury in the George Zimmerman case, and by a careful examination of the evidence, determine if we really want to be like Trayvon Martin, or more to the point, if we would truly like our children to follow his example.

We tend to enlarge people in death beyond their stature in life. Faults and foibles are, if not exactly forgotten, swept under the rug in favor of remembering and lauding the good in them. For the most part, this is a benign, harmless practice. As Thomas Jefferson said, it does not pick anyone’s pocket or break their leg.

Combine it with politics, and particularly racial politics, however, it surely does the former and is likely to do the latter.

Oh, my Gosh. I am watching Hannity and Leo Terrel is ripping Juan Williams a new one. He says the verdict was correct and Juan Williams is saying the jury should have found George guilty for emotional reasons. Terrel says that is wrong and Juan doesn't even know the facts of the case. Amazing. He says, "Shame on you, Juan."

Wow! This is great!

SCOTT: Oh, I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.

I would have continued that line of inquiry.

Q: Why did Angela Corey disrespect the jury and the entire judicial system by calling Zimmerman a murderer on national TV after he was acquitted?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Did Angela Corey's office repeatedly suppress exculpatory evidence, as the defense has charged?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Is Angela Corey guilty of malicious prosecution?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Is Angela Corey intentionally obstructing Florida's Sunshine Law by instructing employees not to put case identifying information in emails?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Did Angela Corey intentionally throw the case, as some members of the African American community now contend?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Did Angela Corey engage in unethical and borderline criminal conduct by overcharging and omitting essential facts from the Affidavit of Probable Cause as Professor Dershowitz has stated?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Why can Angela Corey put a black woman in prison for 20 years for shooting a bullet hole in drywall, but can't convict a white hispanic for shooting a bullet hole in the heart of a black child?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Is Angela Corey trying to start a race war?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Was it unethical for Angela Corey to pad her own pension?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.
Q: Are you going to eventually throw Angela Corey under the bus to try and save your own political career?
A: I don't know, but she's a tough prosecutor.

Any chance you might want to spell that differently, like Randy's?

ran·dy (rnd)
adj.ran·di·er, ran·di·est
1.
a. Lascivious; lecherous.
b. Of or characterized by frank, uninhibited sexuality.

2. Scots - Ill-mannered.

ADD: That spelling would make you a Randy Treeper!

Editorial: The feds and George Zimmerman (Chi Tribune tells Holder to back off) http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opin ... 4381.story

"Jurors spent weeks hearing the best evidence prosecutors could produce against Zimmerman, yet didn't declare him in the wrong or ill-motivated. Ron Safer, a former federal prosecutor now in private practice in Chicago, notes that in a subsequent federal trial, "the prosecution would have the added burden to prove racial animus. It can't be assumed; it has to be proved." Yet federal investigators who interviewed dozens of Zimmerman's friends, neighbors and co-workers reportedly found no one who thought he was a racist. The lead detective in the Sanford police inquiry concluded he was not. Unless Justice has hitherto unseen evidence that racial bias motivated Zimmerman, accusing him of a civil rights or hate crimes violation risks the appearance, but also the reality, of prosecutorial overreach."

How about "Randees"? Or maybe "arties" for RT?

Very surprising and good news! I hope more like the Trib and Leo Terrell push back on this. It's outrageous.

Bill O'Reilly was on Fox and Friends this morning.
He said he's writing an article.
He said it's about the "grievance industry".
It's all about money.
He said he's going to "call them out".

Hi, Puzzler! I think the video of O'Reilly on F&F is posted above. If not, lmk and I'll try to find it. TIA :)

Sharpton is a menace. I really, truly hope his actions will catch up to him and some group will make exposing him a prime directive. People should know who and what he is, and know his purposes, so they know to pay no attention to him. He has single-handedly done tremendous damage not only to race relations, but to the black community, imo.

In the aftermath of the not guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial, I have not been surprised by reactions. The media influence on the case has been destructive, false and sadly, long lasting. Many false assertions have been repeated by the media so often they’ve become part of The Narrative of the case that will never die. Allahpundit put it well:
