Was that probably the picture taken on his own cell phone by the cop whose name escapes me at the moment who also took the "nose" picture of George to show to people in the neighborhood to try to ID the kid?

At one point, West suggested that though Martin told her he was by his father's fiancee's house while Zimmerman was following him, that she doesn't know that for sure.

"Why he need to lie about that, sir?" Jeantel asked West.

"Maybe if he decided to assault George Zimmerman, he didn't want you to know about it," West replied.

"That's real retarded, sir," she said. "That's real retarded to do that, sir."

It was totally outrageous that the judge put up with the behavior of this witness. It is bad enough that her parents never taught her any manners, but the majority of people know to behave in a courtroom. If they don't the judge makes it clear that there are consequences for bad behavior.

I get so tired of people excusing her actions on her age. Every day in this country, young people appear in court (sometimes as witnesses and sometimes as victims) and they sure don't act like this.

And the excuses for her illiteracy are astounding. She is a senior in high school - even though it has taken her awhile longer. These constant excuses just allow for continued inadequacy. She is never going to be able to get a job with this lack of intellect and verbal skills. It is just another example of how the pandering sets someone up for failure.

Another thing...

Rachel's testimony made it clear that she was questioned by Bernie, with an assistant from his office and Sabrina and Crump.
They even came and picked Rachel up and drove her to Sabrina's house.

We clearly learned how much Rachel skewed her comments based on Sabrina sitting right beside her.

However, I think there's more to consider. This was the prosecution's case, specifically Bernie's case, and HE made the decisions to hold the interview/depo at Sabrina's house and to allow Crump/Sabrina to attend.

Has there EVER been such bad decision-making from a prosecutor???

What consequences could Bernie's actions reap him, once this trial is over?

You reap what you sow...

I know what you mean. This just seems so wrong and makes it obvious that there would be undue influence on the witness statement.

I was listening to some of the old witness statements and I was amazed at how the person taking the statement would question people together and would practically feed them information.

David Jancha: Rachel Jeantrel more effective for defense
Last Updated: Friday, June 28, 2013, 6:04 AM

Rachel Jeantel, the so-called "Witness 8," was supposed to be the state's "star witness."

Jeantrel was Trayvon Martin's friend, and claims to have been on the phone with him the night he was shot by George Zimmerman.

But after nearly seven hours of questioning, our legal analyst, David Jancha, believes Jeantel may have been more beneficial for the defense.

"There appears to be issues with inconsistency in her statements and making assumptions about what took place," Jancha said. "I think she was there for the right reason to be supportive and a witness as to what she heard, but I think through cross examination, she was a more effective witness for the defense."

she discussed a bush at the front of her house near the house numbers - how it's hard to see the numbers if you're not standing in just the right place, due to the big bush.

That bush was big enough for TM to hide beside - as dark as it was that night, no one would have seen TM if he were hiding next to that bush. His dark top would blend in with the dark bush, his light pants would blend in with the light color of the home.

Trayvon hiding at that location would conflict with the testimony that he was near Brandi's house, along with a couple other things, but this case has been an assortment of conflicting "facts"!!!.

It looks like the original was strong resolution. I saved it to zoom in on the chin wiskers of the "chile" and even Rumpole's capture is pretty clear. With todays gadgets, that might not eliminate a phone-cam, but my guess is it's not from one.

From friend at another forum…

Tweet: from Andrew Branca
BDLR suggesting that Good's greater detail later is akin to Jeantel's changing story.

My question:
Did Bernie mention Jeantel's changing story in front of the jury then?

I don't recall it and highly doubt it.

From Legal Insurrection:

Andrew Branca wrote:
Under direct testimony John Good testified that the black man wearing the black hoodie was straddling the man in the white or red sweatshirt “MMA-style” and rained down blows in a “Ground-and-Pound” style of attack.

Taryvon Martin at 7-11, February 26, 2012

It seems possible that this line of questioning may have openend the door to the defense being able to introduce video and other evidence of Martin’s own activities and expertise in street-fighting, evidence which to date has not been admitted into evidence.

In addition to what Branca wrote about BDLR's direct exam of Jon, I think BDLR making a point of GZ's "MMA training" and also the state's witness #8's testimony about TM™ fighting and under what telephone circumstances, should bolster the defense's claim to get TM™'s fighting history admitted.

There is zero doubt that MOM objected to any reference to MMA being left unredacted in GZ's medical records. BDLR tried to make hay with it. I'm not saying that's enough alone, just saying it may tip the balance if it's a close call. I mean, in front of a different judge, of course.

I don't think MOM needs to reciprocate.... "me too", two year old stuff is Bernie's style.

Whatever exercise (training) GZ did... it did not help... he got his butt kicked....

I wasn't suggesting "me too" standing alone, just suggesting that and #8's fighting references may tip the scales when added to the Jon direct testimony outlined by Branca. Just a bit of bolstering, and jmo. :64
