SANFORD, Fla. — Attorneys on both sides of the George Zimmerman trial gave very different opening statements Monday.

A prosecutor began opening statements Monday with obscene words the neighborhood watch volunteer whispered under his breath while following 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

"(Expletive) punks," prosecutor John Guy said to six female jurors, quoting Zimmerman from a call he made to a police dispatcher shortly before his fatal confrontation with Martin. "These (expletive), they always get away."

Rumpole, I re-read the prior posts in case I missed something, but didn't see it. After I thought judge had recessed for the day, WFTV started talking, but then in the background I heard Nelson and others talking but couldn't make out what they were saying because of Schaeffer going on and on about nothing as he sometimes does. WFTV didn't go back into courtroom proper, but I could see from split screen that folks were standing and talking about something before judge left. Probably just scheduling or other minor housekeeping.

I'm concerned about O'Mara's oops moment today. If those 20 something phone calls come in, its going to not look good for GZ.

btw, seems some, elsewhere think George is giving death looks towards the witnesses. Grasping at straws they are. Anything to pick on GZ about.

I think O'Mara needs to read up on the LeBroun senaker self defense case that happened today.

Taurus:West already covered that GZ was "co-ordinator" for NW... so perhaps placed calls on belhalf of others... and its not an excessive amount even for one individual.. in a crime ridden area... and besides.. so what. The call on the night is the only relevant thing.. in fact even THAT is not relevant.... even if GZ got fed up and lost it after all the others got away... its STILL self defence when his head is being beaten.

No alert about George's Curfew time for about 2 weeks... yet Bigboi vowed to do that daily until George was "locked up again" as her commitment to support of the Traybot cause.

Seems that as well as all her other faults, Bogboi is lacking in Honor to follow through with a commitment


Of course Bigboi’s daily warning is silly. People of Sanford are in no particular danger if they choose to wear a hoodie outside the hours that George's curfew is in force. What is a REAL danger in Sanford is that ignorant people like Bigboi choose to ignore orders to keep their vicious dogs under control. That problem persists… at all hours.

LE recommends a CW rather than pepper spray… so to be truly safe from uncontrolled dogs, while wearing your hoodies….. Carry a gun.

Bigboi likes to tweet the time that George's Curfew takes effect each day, so in reply.....

It appears that Bigboi has once again fallen into an alcohol induced coma and stopped tweeting for the day

It is safe for intelligent, informed, sane people to discuss the GZ case on twitter... for a few hours.


If only Bigboi had kept her dog under control, when she was ordered to... Trayvon would still be alive..

Did you happen to get a screen shot of the measurements at the scene West was using? I believe he had where the shot was fired and where the body ended up.

I worry about the body being to far away and it it isn't I want to shove it up some Traybots asses.

The only objective I'm catching is that most (or all) suspects reported are black. The state's case seems so limited that they need to plant the idea that color activated his depraved mind.

On that topic, a post from a friend of mine at another forum:

So he did, in fact, stop following TM, as directed by the 911 dispatcher.

I sure hope the jurors read these transcripts.

That was a 4 minute call. Maybe the state will claim that the depraved mind was coming about, the next 30 seconds of the call and short amount of time afterwards just made George SNAP!

I'm disappointed to see the reviews seem to be giving the state accolades for today's performance. Most are critical of the defense, all the way from the opening to the blunder at the end.

I think MOM did an excellent job with all the witnesses, especially Sean, but no one seems to care. It's all about West's joke and disorganized opening and MOM making too much of Traydad's MF remark.

I hope tomorrow is a better day.

2) It just occurred to me, well, pretty farfetched, but maybe RZjr or sr may have an idea why BigBoi's behavior changed? Or slightly more likely, someone she knows may have offered to co-sign for her to get a clue before she got a C & D letter?

As for MOM's "oops" - He didn't challenge the authentication of those tapes. While he was juggling a lot of things he didn't catch, and apparently no one else at the defense table caught, it was admission, not just authentication. Whatever was going on at their table apparently had too much of their attention. MOM has corrected that by objecting to the admission of the tapes. Nelson will make the same decision she'd have made if he had objected earlier. I believe allowing them is error; possibly reversible error; as if the defense needs more of that to successfully appeal.

I find it difficult to follow the posts on the treehouse once it gets too long. What is the consences there of today's happenings? I only read there in the am before the threads get too long.
