As much as I've disliked JM's "style" in handling witnesses, I do believe that his closing yesterday was very good.

I understand Nurmi is under the weather (cold or something). Hope that doesn't make him even slower.

I was concerned for a while that Jodi would get a verdict of manslaughter.

She's definitely a sick puppy...no matter how you look at it (borderline personality disorder or PTSD/domestic violence).

Some jurors may not want her to have the death penalty due to obvious problems; however, Juan's closing was pretty good and his rebuttal, after Nurmi's closing, will be the last thoughts left in the jurors' minds.

Fingers crossed.... Nurmi might get some sort of booster injection for his "cold"....whatever time he has planned for his statement may well be cut in half :)

I think Jodi is a full-blown psycho myself. Nothing "border-line"

I thought Martinez brought it all together nicely. Perhaps over did the ALYCE IS A BIG FAT LIAR bit too much? Fine and proper that he discredit the new age psychobabble approach... but "lying" wasn't Alyce's biggest fault... it was her notions in general, and especially her own emotional bond with Jodi, her bias, and her "advocacy" that were at fault.

Live blog: Jodi Arias' last stand
By Graham Winch
updated 11:50 AM EDT, Fri May 03, 2013

For four months, Jodi Arias’ defense attorneys have tried to paint Arias as a victim who was forced to kill her abuser in self-defense.

Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi’s closing argument will be his last chance to plant seeds of doubt, and to convince the jury Arias had no choice but to end ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander’s life when he allegedly attacked her.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez gave an impassioned closing argument Thursday that Arias deserves a first-degree murder conviction for planning Alexander’s slaying and killing him in cold blood.

"Jodi Ann Arias killed Travis Alexander. And even after stabbing him over and over again, and even after slashing his throat from ear to ear, and then even after taking a gun and shooting him in the face, she will not let him rest in peace. But now, instead of a gun, instead of a knife, she uses lies,” said Martinez.

On Friday, Nurmi may criticize Martinez’ emotional courtroom style, painting him as the overzealous prosecutor hell-bent on convicting Arias.

Closings arguments are a crucial part of the trial, because the attorneys get a chance to leave the jurors with final impressions of their cases before deliberations begin.

Some attorneys like to save a surprise for closing arguments, because it's the last thing the jurors will hear before they begin their deliberations.

The jurors have heard a lot of testimony throughout the four-month trial, but the attorneys haven't always been able to explain the significance of the testimony. Attorneys commonly use the closing arguments to "connect the dots."

Closing arguments can also provide some of the most memorable moments in court, such as when O.J. Simpson defense attorney Johnnie Cochran coined the famous term, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."

After Nurmi completes his closing argument Friday, Martinez will get his chance to present his rebuttal argument. The jury could start deliberating moments after Martinez finishes his rebuttal argument.

I wanted to let everyone know that once court is in session, HLN is showing it again today without any commercial (or talking head) interruptions.

11:58 p.m. ET: People are gathering in the courtroom. HLN's producer in the courtroom says Juror 8 is attendance today. Juror 8 was dismissed from the panel for unknown an reason. However, he was recently arrested and charged with DUI.

I hope Nurmi's closing argument is short and Martinez gives a short rebuttal. I would love the jury to get the case today. I guess it won't happen though.

I don't mind that HLN gets commercials in before court begins or during the lunch and other breaks as long as they don't interrupt the closing arguments. I was very surprised yesterday that they never interrupted any of Juan's arguments. No pausing...nothing!
