Thanks!!! I will go now and watch or listen to Juan's opening statement, maybe the other one too....although I dread having to suffer thru Nurmi's dull monologue.

This is the perfect time to get myself up to date on all this. It's been 65 degrees for two days here in beautiful Colorado but tonight we start a snowstorm of up to 10 inches of snow. So I'm burrowing down for the long haul (weekend) and going to just enjoy this catching up. Thanks again!

Nothing stops Jodi Ann Arias. A co-worker called Jane V. M or Nancy telling that Jodi would finish her shift ..
then head out to Travis' house.

That was a FIVE (5) HOUR TRIP!

Good, perfect timing for a house bound storm. This trial is addicting!

Making this :NN19 small so Rumpole won't see it..... :31

I can't tell you how much I wish I was there in Colorado, rt! What a blessing it is to live in such beauty! It's our all time favorite place to spend the Christmas Holidays..... Breckenridge/Frisco/Silverthorne area and then we drive ALL OVER. Especially love Estes Park, the Hot Sulphur Springs in Granby. We ski up in Leadville at Cooper.

I've just finished listening to the opening statements at 47 min. into the YouTube video, with somewhat more than an hour left. Here's what I learned:

1 - Juan the prosecutor gave an overview of the case that didn't reveal one iota of his strategy.

2 - The lady defense attorney is almost as good at telling lies as Jodi.

If I believe what that woman said....then Travis was the stalker, emailing Jodi (God forbid) and making Jodi his own property, even putting his name on her underwear. Travis hid his perverted sex life with Jodi from his church as he pursued other women more appropriate for marriage (which is only smart). Travis was an abuser (but she failed to give evidence of that). And worst of all, Travis had a bad temper which forced Jodi to kill him to save her own life. It was a tragic thing that happened to Jodi.

I'm looking forward to watching more of the stuff you guys and Rumpole have made available!

And just one more sad thing....Jodi made sure that poor little Napoleon had to finish his life without the companionship and loving care of Travis. :81

More info to help catch us up during this long court recess.

Excellent, excellent timeline of this case - from the first public defender to the end. Also there is when Jodi wanted to be her own primary counsel! :HSG

This morning Nancy Grace is giving sort of a monologue about the trial and talking about how some people think Juan is being too harsh toward Jodi. Well, yes, he's being harsh but I believe he is Travis' advocate, speaking for Travis, so to speak. As such, I think he's actually being pretty restrained, only because he knows his place, as an attorney, and isn't going to do anything illegal. But I'll bet he would like to avenge Travis as much as some of the rest of us would.

I came to the trial late... but soon realised that JA NEEDS to be confronted... so I am glad that Martinez is on her case.

But having said that... there are times I cringe a little when he keeps making snarky comments that don't make much of a point. I guess there is a fine line. Generally I think he is doing good.

remote ... I guess that's why Jodi was always sleeping at parties. Tired from all that constant driving.

Someone on TV said that yesterday, with the second batch of questions would be very telling. They sure were, to me.
They don't seem to trust or believe her. GREAT!

And someone also said even if only "some" jurors are writing the questions (not all) THEY will probably be the Leaders in the discussions they have, and the STRONG ones. ALSO GREAT!!!!

Interesting they got to know the SKANK Jodi because they chose to put her on the stand. Let it ALL HANG OUT - Jodi!!! I don't think they like or believe her!! But, they didn't really get to know Casey because they didn't put her on the stand. They only saw the "ACTING Casey" ... the BIG ACT that was put on WHEN the JURY was IN THE ROOM!! So hopefully, this will have a very different verdict!

:NN1 Please - - - jury!

I'll drink to that!! :77

I think Juan has a reputation for being a good death-penalty lawyer. But when he finally at long last got up to cross examine Jodi after Nurmi was finished I couldn't understand why Juan made such big deals of very little things. I can't remember now what those 'things' were but I considered them pretty much irrelevant and just scratched my head, giving him the benefit of the doubt. I was really hoping he'd get right to a bigger issue and trap her in contradictions. He did that later to some degree but nothing really significant stands out.

I give Jodi an A+ for her performance in general and think her superior ability to answer so well comes from having so much time in jail to put her story all together in her head from beginning to end. And I also think sometimes that evil people may possess more talent for lying/deceiving than normal people have. If Jodi is not just inherently 'evil' then it's a shame that she didn't have a close enough girlfriend to help her get over Travis and just move on like normal people do. I think a lot of us know what it's like to lose a true love but it's just so much more normal to walk away crying and very sad than to plot vengeance.

When you look at Jodi's whole life with Travis I can't see any part of it that I'd call normal. She really was obsessed to the point of risking her own destruction along with Travis'.

rt I do think you have to GIVE YOUR ALL when dealing with world class liars on the other side.
Have to "be harsh". I think Jodi was HARSH to Travis.

SKANK is the perfect word for her. Travis looked so clean cut, very clean looking ... and Jodi? Well Just look at "IT"!

Someone said Jodi's "I can't remember" is HER pleading the 5th! Selective memory. Real piece of work!

rt I will be interested in seeing Juan tie this all up at the end. It's not over till it's over. I think he could have been setting up building blocks for the conclusion? How do you combat a great liar and a lying team?

This is always my big worry ... when the killer lives and will spin their great lies, and the victim cannot speak and tell the truth - their side. I worried about Caylee, Trayvon, all murders ... doesn't seem fair. I wonder if the Defendant should NOT be allowed to speak ... only use FORENSIC EVIDENCE solely? THEN that would be totally FAIR to both sides? What good is one side - who WILL tell lies? Their side ALWAYS lies - lies designed to get them free, yes?

I also heard that Prosecutors don't have much experience questioning defendants on the stand. MOST defendant's DO NOT take the stand. THEN he gets this one? Good grief!! I can't wait to see his closing.

This poor SKANK wannabe ... I see even being a waitress her whole life (and starting young because restaurants were her family's business), she didn't even work in any 4*, or 5* restaurants. She was where she belonged ...

She KNOWS who she is and that's why she NEEDED Travis, desperately, to elevate herself. She tried hard to enter that world, but couldn't ... not permanently. Doesn't belong there, and isn't.

Yes, I CAN'T WAIT for the closing arguments. I can't wait for Juan to make all his points and then to say that because the murder was premeditated, they MUST give her death. That jury just needs to keep remembering 30 yr. old Travis.

What happens now? Is Juan still questioning Jodi? And does the jury have a few more questions? If so, then what? Are there more witnesses? Have the "experts" already given testimony on abusive relationships?

rt did the judge say no re-cross? Maybe. She is doing the jury's questions instead?

Gads there are so many things that enter into trials, like momentum, timing, etc.

I think the good experienced liars WANT to go on the stand. They think they can fool everybody.
"You can fool some of the people, some of the time, but not ALL of the people, ALL of the time."
Abe Lincoln
And I would think psychopaths would especially want to testify. they are so used to "getting over". Lawyers I think usually say NOT TO testify. Some clients may listen, some not.

Jodi claimed "Self Defense" so maybe she HAD to testify. That was her third choice, wasn't it? After the evidence of her bloody handprint, mixed with Travis' blood ... she had to make her story fit the evidence - as she always does she said. :NN20

I do think it is GENERALLY unwise for murder suspect to testify.. and most don't.

The British (American) judicial system means the defendant is INNOCENT until proven guilty.. the burden is on the State to lay out and prove charges... the defence need not say anything... but of course they do. But ALL they have to do is raise reasonable doubt.

That is normally a matter of doubts about evidence/witness testimony... especially where "I didn't do it" is the defence.

HERE.... it is not a matter of "I didn't do it".... she admits she did (finally).... but wants to offer a completely different description of events... so she had little alternative but to testify and TRY and sell her version.

IMO her version is simply silly....it would have been laughed out of court early on if not for the fact that she DOES have the "gift of the gab"... she is at least presenting a narrative clearly and consistently (rehearsed well).

IMO the jury would be nuts to buy it... and they wont.

However... there is a chance they will relent as far as DP goes. I think they would be WRONG to have any sympathy. This is premeditated evil.... the actual murder was prolonged, cruel and vicious causing aggravated suffering, and no remorse from JA during the murder... she could have stopped at several stages I think..... should be the DP IMO.

"Mortal Terror" is what jodiarias called it. "Self defense".

Who would like to see Travis's sister Tanisha jump out of the gallery
and show jodiairas what mortal terror and self defense really mean.
