That bird has been taken care of....

***spits out feathers***

LOL! at joining JQ. I actually thought I had registered there a long time ago and just tonite, I tried to login and clicked on my "forgot password" button. It says I was never registered.

I am telling you. WS had it right, IMO. They shut the whole Martin/Zimmerman thread down for all of the racists comments. I don't understand that racism is still being brought into it well, aside from the fact that the biggest race-baiter of all times has been involved.

**Sharpton** cough ** darn feathers give me dry mouff.

:43

Over at RC, we had a time out for a couple of days when things got heated.

Detective in George Zimmerman case turns to Jose Baez for legal help

The lawyer who successfully defended Casey Anthony has been retained by the detective who urged that Trayvon Martin’s killer be charged.

By Frances Robles
frobles@MiamiHerald.com

The lead detective in the George Zimmerman murder trial has hired famed lawyer Jose Baez to represent him as he maneuvers the next steps of the contentious, high-profile case, The Miami Herald has learned.

Chris Serino, a former Sanford police major-crimes investigator, became a controversial figure when evidence revealed he had quietly filed an arrest affidavit a few weeks after the shooting death of Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin, even as his chief publicly said there wasn’t enough evidence to make a case.

A letter was sent last week by Baez to Dean Ringer Morton & Lawton, the law firm that sometimes represents the city of Sanford, advising that he will represent Serino in the upcoming proceedings. It is highly unusual for investigators to approach a murder trial with their own counsel.

Reality Chatter. They were big on the Caylee Anthony case. The forum itself is geared toward the missing and the murdered, primarily children.

They have a subsection on the Zimmerman/Martin case. All of the extremists feel muzzled by the mods so they don't post as much and when they do, it is now toned down. I go there because I can unleash my speculation beast! As long as I back it with evidence, it is all good.

But right now, I want to know why a former lead detective, now patrol officer needs a criminal defense lawyer in a high profile murder case!!!!

I sent a tweet to Robles asking if Baez was doing this Pro Bono, off to go check her response...

Hi forensicpsy :28

Nice to see you again.... just about to announce verdict for Vanessa Coleman... brb :24

That is not the only "award" they have received but I have not paid particular attention.

It really is silly to be dishing out awards.. especially before the facts are known. As we all know Trayvon was clearly NOT a good example of an average teen, let alone some particularly notable one..... and Sabrina and Tracy were not especially good parents... in fact it seems clear that they failed to intervene in the deteriorating behaviour of TM and could be seen as a major factor in his demise.

They are thanking you at CTH.... see I told ya... even loony lefties get treated well there :12

Diwataman has linked to article... we did know that the Scheme Team were demanding information back then...

Yep. That’s it.

“The family has hired lawyers Benjamin Crump of Tallahassee and Natalie Jackson of Orlando. Both demanded that police make an arrest and release details about what happened the night of the shooting, including several 911 calls.

They said they will file suit in state circuit court in Sanford Friday, demanding that police turn over their investigative records.”

Thank you. I like being here... Most are OK over there but there are a couple of them that are to the right of Genghis Khan...IMO.

A few flat out scare me. :13

This is my latest little rant WRT Benjamin Crump.

Quote:
"We need to fight first in the court of public opinion," Benjamin Crump tells the Miami Herald. "The jury is the American people.”~Benjamin Crump
He was talking about Martin Lee Anderson and the lessons learned from it. Put fully into play with the Zimmerman case by creating a public opinion through diligent PR work.

Economic principle is creating a need, or in this case an opinion, then supplying the product of misinformation. People don't realize that they have the "need" but once invested they cannot let it go.

All IMO, and perhaps more than a little crazy.

I wonder if Crump is a student of history?
(perhapss the works of Dr. Joseph Goebbels or Hitler's Mein Kampf - Classic Comic edition)

From Wikepedia:

Quote:
Propaganda, the coordinated attempt to influence public opinion through the use of media, was skillfully used by the NSDAP in the years leading up to and during Adolf Hitler's leadership of Germany (1933–1945). National Socialist propaganda provided a crucial instrument for acquiring and maintaining power, and for the implementation of their policies, including the pursuit of total war and the extermination of millions of people in the Holocaust.

Mein Kampf contains the blueprint of later Nazi propaganda efforts. Assessing his audience, Hitler writes in chapter VI:

"Propaganda must always address itself to the broad masses of the people. (...) All propaganda must be presented in a popular form and must fix its intellectual level so as not to be above the heads of the least intellectual of those to whom it is directed. (...) The art of propaganda consists precisely in being able to awaken the imagination of the public through an appeal to their feelings, in finding the appropriate psychological form that will arrest the attention and appeal to the hearts of the national masses. The broad masses of the people are not made up of diplomats or professors of public jurisprudence nor simply of persons who are able to form reasoned judgment in given cases, but a vacillating crowd of human children who are constantly wavering between one idea and another. (...) The great majority of a nation is so feminine in its character and outlook that its thought and conduct are ruled by sentiment rather than by sober reasoning. This sentiment, however, is not complex, but simple and consistent. It is not highly differentiated, but has only the negative and positive notions of love and hatred, right and wrong, truth and falsehood."

As to the methods to be employed, he explains:

"Propaganda must not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favourable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; yet it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favourable to its own side. (...) The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble. On the other hand, they quickly forget. Such being the case, all effective propaganda must be confined to a few bare essentials and those must be expressed as far as possible in stereotyped formulas. These slogans should be persistently repeated until the very last individual has come to grasp the idea that has been put forward. (...) Every change that is made in the subject of a propagandist message must always emphasize the same conclusion. The leading slogan must of course be illustrated in many ways and from several angles, but in the end one must always return to the assertion of the same formula."

The fine art of Propaganda...now that you have me on this.

Usage in Hitler's psychological profile

The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Lie

"People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough, people will sooner or later believe it." ~Walter Langer paraphrased it to one simple sentence.

Was rereading the ME reports and wanted to bring this back up.....did a little editing since I was posting this at TL.

The Person of Contact was Chris Serino.

From the narrative by Malphurs,
POC stated:
...The caller stated that the male should not have been in the area and he observed the male while walking his neighborhood watch. Shortly after the call, the resident confronted the male and the two began to physically fight. Witnesses observed the two fighting in the yard and then the resident fired a handgun at the male and striking him in the chest. The male fell to the ground. SPD and SFD arrived at the scene. The male was pronounced at 19:30. The identity of the male was unknown.

Page 137

How would Malphurs know that "the resident confronted" anyone if Serino had not told her as such?

And I don't remember Zimmerman ever saying that Martin should not have been in the area in the NEN. He called because of recent burglaries and suspicious behavior.

She is using Serino's narrative though she doesn't specify whether he called her or was there directly.

Well the narrative is WRONG... and you would expect in an official report better really.

It is the sort of "not quite true" spin promoted by Julison that got us into this mess.

I think it is reasonable for ME to get background and related info, but I don't think a ME report should include an "off the cuff" description of HEARSAY facts... it should be a ME report.

The thing that got me was, as in the first bond hearing, the word "Confronted" Serino starts with it a day or so after the autopsy with his narrative, Crump picks it up a few days after that after Tracy Martin hired him, it goes on and on...until it winds up in the APC and Gilbreath gets CONFRONTED with "confronted" himself... He didn't know how they arrived at that word. I do. It drifted down the line from Serino.
