i watched this i think on dr phil the friend of the zimmerman i think Dr phil who i dont think is much good makes some points about the neighbourhood watch .

Of course ppl are going to say George is a freally good bloke blah blah blah I dont think the osterman men should be on any TV show saying how nice this guy is who shot an unarmed 17 kid. I dont think anyone who has been charged with murder shoud be held up as some great bloke or gal whatever . Osterman is just selling his book he wasnt there and doesnt know what happened this guy osterman is a money hungry parasite i hope he is going to give the proceeds to trayvons family

Why do you think someone who has been charged with murder shouldn't be held up as some "great bloke" or whatever? Why not indeed? He has not been convicted of being a murderer and, in this country, he is considered innocent until he is convicted.

I, for one, will hold George Zimmerman up as a "great bloke" for trying to make his neighborhood a better and safer place to live, and for being a responsible and constructive member of society.

WEST PALM BEACH - Members of a task force reviewing Florida's "stand your ground" law expressed wide support Wednesday for the statute's core provision that deadly force can be used if necessary to prevent death or serious injury.

Though the discussions of the Task Force on Citizen Safety and Protection remained precursors to their ultimate recommendations to Gov. Rick Scott and the Legislature, members voiced strong approval of the notion that citizens have no duty to retreat if seriously threatened.

Okaloosa County Sheriff Larry Ashley called the idea of redefining the law's "duty to retreat" provision "incomprehensible." The Rev. R.B. Holmes, the committee's vice chairman, said it was "a Christian virtue." Circuit Judge Krista Marx said the fact that 25 other states followed Florida's lead in establishing such a law "speaks volumes."

"There could be no more important right than to protect your life and the lives of your family members," said Miami defense lawyer Mark Seiden, who said it was a "God-given right."

Lieutenant Gov. Jennifer Carroll is leading the taskforce that is reexamining Stand Your Ground.

WEST PALM BEACH -- Whether Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law gets a makeover, the members of the taskforce examining the law says they support the core meaning behind the measure.

In a meeting in West Palm Beach on Wednesday, members of the Task Force on Citizen Safety and Protection voiced strong approval of the notion that citizens have no duty to retreat if seriously threatened.

They are not a GOOD BLOKE if someone randomly starts shooting ppl /person because they thought or suspected they where doing something that they dont like ! The "good bloke" did not randomly start shooting people or a person because he thought or suspected someone was doing something he didn't like. The "good bloke" shot a person only after that person started plummeting the "good bloke" so viciously that the "good bloke" was in fear for his own life. He shot a person clearly in self defense.

It is a tragedy that he and his friends and family are being put through all this.

The "case", on the face of it.. should never have been escalated to this level.

It IS a tragedy that a young guy is dead.. but it is also a tragedy that an average concerned citizen is now being accused and abused by a rabid "lynch mob" posting delusional nonsense at places like JusticeQuest.

Today will be Part 2 of Dr. Phil's attack on GZ. I understand he said on the Talk, today's show with the Martin/Fultons and entourage (Crump & crew) was the hardest he's ever had to do and it was an honor to be part of it. GMAB!!! Has the Pope canonized TM yet?

Just read some posts on the good doc's Facebook, and someone is on a roll, giving TM supporters a real hard time.

I still can't believe what's going on with this case. GZ should never have been arrested, never mind charged with 2nd degree murder! Can you imagine, if all cases of self defense as clear cut as this one is, were to be charged the same way... It would be open season for prosecution of law abiding citizens who find themselves in a position to defend themselves.

Hope you don't leave the conversation, Starry, it's best if we continue to hear all sides and slants and make our own decisions. I try to listen to all of it, although I personally think it's one of these cases which can't be proved as to who did the actual confrontation that caused it to end this way. I think GZ did what a lot of us would do and check out someone we thought was suspicious, especially since there were break-ins or attempted break-ins in the area. And I admit it may be what we call profiling.

I believe Angela Corey is up for re-election in November and now she is involved with two highly controversial cases -- This one and the Marissa Alexander case. Marissa also claimed the SYG law and shot at an abusive husband. Did not hurt anyone and got 20 years. Mandatory sentencing -- Ugh. Now having convictions under her belt is something I believe they strive for when they want to look good to the public.
