After achieving apparent end to infections, New Zealand is now reporting a few cases every dayThe good news is they are ALL people (NZ citizens and permanent residents) who are returning from overseas and are being identified during the 14 day managed isolation (or quarantine). The one exception was the women let out early (and not tested) on compassionate grounds to visit dying parent. More by good luck that proper procedure. As a result of that cock-up compassion exceptions have STOPPED and nobody is allowed out unless tested (negative). Lets hop that the authorities up their game going forward. NZ can not deny citizens traveling back.... but they SHOULD be very strict on containment and testing. If this thing gets to community spread I am sure that NZ will be just as unable to contain it as other countries. I see US and Europe are showing renewed surge in cases. I agree that the world can not keep their economies shut down any longer. There is no option but to OPEN... with as much caution as practical.
I have been seeing an increase in cases in US (and other countries). This was happening long before the single Trump rally, and that would not be the cause anyway outside the one location (Tulsa, Oklahoma). I do, however think the ongoing riots day after day could be at least part of the cause. I do take Trumps point that more testing shows more cases. In fact US case numbers "plateaued" and never showed the a sustained drop after the (first) peak, as almost all other countries did?
However, it is true that the overall cases in US are from a few states and NOT the entire country.
(California, Texas, Florida, Arizona) and.....
.... it is also true that the death rate is dropping in USA....
But death rate may just be lagging metric, so beware of that also showing a surge
