Lindsay Birbeck - Missing

This missing person story popped up on a couple of UK youtube channels.. as a plea for infomation after Lindsay missing for a few days.

Image

Following the story, the search failed to find any trace after more than a week. There was an appeal by a friend for Linsay to make contact... assuming that Lindsay had voluntarily left (was still alive) but today I see reports of "an object" found are likely actually a BODY found in or near a cemetery. We await more details from police

Just before body found... police announced they had traced a "potential witness" seen on CCTV at about same time Lindsay went missing.

As police are saying publicly.....This could be a genuine "just a witness"... or perhaps a "person of interest"?

Police identify potential witness in missing Lindsay Birbeck search

This case has alarming echoes of Philip Chism case..
(Ref: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=1658 )

Student (maybe) murdering teacher and transporting body in Wheelie bin :eek

The Chism case involved rape and savage sexual violation (possibly after death as well as while alive)

Lindsay Birbeck murder investigation: 16-year-old arrested by police
ByLuke Beardsworth, Editor of Lancs.Live
27 AUG 2019

Lancashire Constabulary has this evening (August 27) arrested a 16-year-old on suspicion of the murder of Lindsay Birbeck.

The teenager, from Accrington, was arrested following an appeal for information made earlier today. He remains in custody at this time.

Lindsay’s family have been told of this latest development.

Det Supt Andy Cribbin, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “The response to our earlier appeal has been absolutely overwhelming and I would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information.

“While we have made an arrest our enquiries are very much continuing and I would continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward, however I would urge people not to speculate and to be mindful of the comments they make, especially on social media, as this causes distress to the family and could impact on our investigation.”

Earlier today, police confirmed that the body found at Accrington Cemetery at the weekend is that of missing teaching assistant Lindsay Birbeck.

An officer uses a black sheet to hide the identity
of the underage suspect as he arrives at court.

The mother of a 16-year-old murder suspect sobbed as he appeared in court today accused of killing of a mother-of-two found strangled at a cemetery.

The youth, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, stood before magistrates in Blackburn accused of murdering teaching assistant Lindsay Birbeck, 47.

The boy's weeping mother sat with his father in front of the glass dock as the youngster was led up in handcuffs, before looking up at him and smiling during the hearing.

A dock officer released the cuffs and flanked him as the boy gave his name, date of birth and address to the court.

The boy, wearing a white shirt, nodded when asked if his nationality was British.

His tearful mother frequently looked back at her son during the 20-minute hearing and nervously smiled at him on occasion.

The teenager is alleged to have murdered Mrs Birbeck between August 12 and August 24.
