As day 2 commences... England have an "almost new" ball... they took it late yesterday and bowled 3 overs with it.
In the press there have been criticisms of the pitch.... being too batsman friendly ... being "A road" (in cricket parlance).
As discussed previously.. Test Cricket is ideally a battle between bat and ball.... conditions best for batting on day one, but the pich deteriorating somewhat over 5 days. I would agree that A ROAD that lasts 5 days where it's flat and ideal for batting for the entire 5 days does not make for a good test match... it will likely end in a draw. Any test win requires that one side take 20 wickets.
I would say..
It's too early to judge yet. It did seem that way when Warner looked to score easily, but since then other batsmen have struggled (and 3 wickets did fall). It is early to blame the pitch... as I always say.. you dont KNOW what the exact nature of a pitch is until BOTH sides have had a turn on the same pitch

It could well be that the English bowling attack is CRAP!!
They have not looked like bowling Australia out.. this series... on various pitches
Nobody will blame the pitch if Australian bowlers manage to knock over English wickets with ease

I do have a personal "rule of thumb" that the first innings needs to be over well within 2 days. There needs to be at least 1, and ideally 2 sessions, on day 2 where the second team innings is played. So... I would expect Australia to be all out (or declare) by end of the second session today.... at the outside England put in to bat before last hour today.
AND....
Even if the pitch is over "batter friendly"... it is the pitch for this game!!
No point just whinging about it... both teams need to come up with a strategy to win on WHATEVER pitch (and weather) conditions they are given!!
It is notable that Pommy bowler, James Anderson wasn't too impressed with the pitch...
"Whinging Poms" are gonna WHINGE!!
