Preceded by a Christmas special in December 2016, "The Return of Doctor Mysterio", the series is the third and final series starring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, the most recent incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside. In January 2017, Peter Capaldi announced he would be stepping down from the role after the tenth series. The series will introduce Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts, the Doctor's newest travelling companion, and will also feature Matt Lucas as Nardole, who appeared in the two previous Christmas specials.

The twelfth series of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who premiered on 1 January 2020 and is set to air through to March 2020. The series is the second to be led by Chris Chibnall as head writer and executive producer, alongside executive producer Matt Strevens. This series is the twelfth to air following the programme's revival in 2005, and is the thirty-eighth season overall. The twelfth series is set to be broadcast on Sundays, bar the premiere episode, continuing on from the eleventh series, after regular episodes of the revived era have previously been broadcast on Saturdays.

Jodie Whittaker returns for her second series as the Thirteenth Doctor, the most recent incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in the TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside. The series also stars Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill as the Doctor's travelling companions, Graham O'Brien, Ryan Sinclair and Yasmin Khan, respectively.

The ten episodes were directed by Jamie Magnus Stone, Lee Haven Jones, Nida Manzoor and Emma Sullivan. Alongside Chibnall, who wrote four scripts for the twelfth series, the writers include Ed Hime, Pete McTighe and Vinay Patel, who return from writing for the previous series, as well as new contributors Nina Métivier, Maxine Alderton and Charlene James. Filming for the series commenced in January 2019 and concluded by November of that year. The series will be succeeded by a special episode.

It is no use you telling us the show is not political when its every pore now oozes politics, not as a theme or tone to explore an issue from multiple viewpoints, but as a club to beat the audience over the head, nor can you tell its joyful when it is joyless, nor fun when it is miserable, nor exciting when its dull.

Clearly, we are at a crisis point.

Just yesterday, fresh from insulting John Hurt’s portrayal of the Doctor for reasons we can barely understand, Jodie took it upon herself to spin to Entertainment Weekly that she has been hired for another quarter of a million pounds to drag the show even further down next year.

Where is the showrunner?

Since when does the lead of a show rehire herself?

And does she really think we are going to just accept that when the ratings are now on the floor and still dropping, or the continued disrespect from the BBC, thats done nothing to support or protect this fanbase, while Twitter accounts connected to the production office have led horrible vile online cyber bullying against true long term fans of the show, even driving some to contemplate suicide?
