Probably the best thing that could happen in this session.

I think he let the death of his bestman's brother (yesterday) interfere with his playing today.

NOT a team player. (btw, LOVE your eyeroll, Rumpole. Yep)

He and Latham should go have a pity party.

Almost a run out - Williamson

I HEARD Williamson say "Fuck me" as he was sprawled on the ground after his dive. :eek

IF Taylor REALLY has got a damaged calf... he might not be able to bat again in this innings.. or the second innings... it's two wickets down out of the 20 that SA need to win the game :cool

How would Taylor be able to bat in THIS innings again?
When he is hurt do they put him at the bottom of the line-up?

A player who "retires hurt" can come back at the fall of any wicket. Usually... if it is genuine injury they might stagger back out as last batsman... IF there is any point to it... for the good of the team.

Up until a few years ago... injured players could use a "runner". Stand and hit the ball, with another team member out there to do the running. It was always FARCICAL.. with three batsman out there.... batsman forgetting they had a runner starting to run etc... all three could be "run out" while out of their crease etc.
I am GLAD they no longer have that farcical option.

That's interesting. I haven't learned much about player injuries or retiring from the game because of it. Translation: I haven't been paying attention to much of it. ;)

Thanks.

I don't know why I always like to compare this and that.

South Africa at 50 overs 107/3

And NZ will have a fresh start tomorrow.

Just saying. :)

LOL, this sounds comical. In American baseball they can put in a runner on base for an injured player on base (called a pinch runner), but the injured player doesn't get to bat again in the line-up and he leaves the field.

If I were a betting woman I would say Taylor won't be back in the 1st innings.

ETA
Ross Taylor has suffered a low grade tear of the right calf & is hopeful of batting if required in this Test. No word on the rest of series

16th Test century - WILLIAMSON!

Rumpole, who is commentating? They were arguing about Taylor playing again this series.

I think Rigor is one of them (arguing).

ALSO .. the Patel wicket should have been overturned on review. Umpire error.

What do we want?..... A wicket

Why do we want it?... so that peg-leg Taylor comes out to bat :)
