SA need to get on with this. A couple of big overs.

End of over 20 overs South Africa 95/2 3x20 ====> 285

End of over 30 overs South Africa 151/4 2x30 ====> 302 :)

So close but no cigar.
I thought they played the same, but NZ bowled better, both had dropped catches.

I think you should stay with 20 ov x 3 Seems to be the better predictor.

This pitch looks good. A lot better than the MESS India povided for a test!!!

SA CHOSE to bat first.. and so they fancy their own batting line-up to be able to make a big score/set a good target.

SA batting line up is great... Commentators are being a bit wussy...I expect a score 350+ :cool

NZ could reach such a target.... or collapse.... 2nd innings might be exciting.

WICKET - Amla (7/19) is out.

I was about to post that HE is holding SA back... costing a run per over or more.. and so he NEEDED to "Piss or get off the pot"... shame it had to be get off the pot.. but could be a plus. :cool

Amla in effect cost SA 2 overs of balls faced for no score :doh

South Africa 41/1 (8.4 ov) RR 4.73

I would expect a SA RR of 6+ at this stage

It's the old (Rumpole) "run a ball" rule... or each batsmen NEEDS to have a SR of close to 100% else somebody else in the team needs to make up their deficit at some stage. If the eventual team score is say, 300, then the average SR across the team needs to be 100%. It's simple math that many teams seem to be unaware of, or else leave scoring for a CHARGE towards the end. But, even with a charge at the end.... first the batsmen have to "make up" slow batting that went before them. Sticking close to 100% makes more sense.. with the "charge" providing a "bonus" and a score above 300.

After 20 overs.....

SA 103/1 (20.0 ov) The New 3x20 rule ====> predicted final score 309

I still think SA can do BETTER than that.

du Plessis needs to hit two boundaries to be up with the play,

WICKET - du Plessis (36/46)

He was behind in his scoring.. another (equivalent) 10 balls faced with no score :roll

"Piss or get off the pot"

South Africa 114/2 (22.2 ov) RR 5.10

I guess AB de Villiers will have to save the day? :)

Even if you are rooting for NZ.. this game needs a score 300+ to make the run chase exciting.

After 30 overs...

SA 146/3 RR 4.86

2x30 ov. rule ====> Predicted final score 292

I STILL think SA can do better.. and will if de Villiers survives for most of the remaining overs.

LOL, a Rigorism! I'm not paying much attention to him. I don't like when he argues, and turned down when the gal started talking-- not b/c she is a girl, just not interested. ;)

Another wicket

Pretorius (11/11) SR 100.00

I have to say.. I expected better from SA batting... as always we wont know how good the score is until the opposition have a turn on the wicket.

South Africa 183/6 (39.4 ov) RR 4.61
