These people are absolutely unbelievable! How is the INSURANCE company responsible for this shooting? Looks like a huge INJUSTICE to me. This can only make them look bad.

"It's our job, as lawyers, to make sure that we protect our client's interest," Crump said. He said that while Fulton is "trying to get justice for her son in the criminal courts," the family is also pursuing claims against "entities that we believe are also accountable."

Notes taken by a victims’ advocate who works for the State Attorney’s Office in Sanford show that Tracy Martin had a life insurance policy through his employer that paid for most of the expenses incurred from Trayvon Martin’s death. Despite that, Tracy Martin still had out-of-pocket expenses of $1,300, according to the notes in the records obtained by the AP.The Attorney General’s Office paid out more than $25 million in the 2010-11 fiscal year to more than 16,000 compensation claims.

Money for the fund comes from court fees assessed on offenders, as well as other sources. Applicants can be reimbursed for lost wages, funeral expenses, medical expenses and mental health counseling.

Fulton’s friend filed the initial application on her behalf as a favor, but Fulton hasn’t had time to fill out the paperwork needed to process the claim, said Ben Crump, an attorney for Martin’s parents. She didn’t want to disclose how much she was applying for and what expenses the money would cover, Crump said.

“She has a big stack of papers at her house,” Crump said. “I’m going to encourage her to fill it out.”

A hearing on the scheduling of Zimmerman’s trial is set for later this week.

I am struggling to make sense of this insurance claim? and related matters....

Latest clarification from the Treehouse....
http://theconservativetreehouse.com/201 ... nce-issue/

Quote:
UPDATE #2 Several weeks ago, we shared that our Treeper sources were reporting an initial agreement of some kind between the Scheme Team and The HOA for the Retreat At Twin Lakes, the subdivision where Trayvon was shot.
The insurance company for the HOA is “Travelers”.
Well, apparently the “agreement” was not an agreement at all, and was actually an insurance claim filed by the lawyers representing Sybrina Martin (Natalie Jackson, Benjamin Crump, and Daryl Parks) against the policy of the HOA written by Travelers.

Now the insurance carrier has responded with a petition to the Federal Circuit Court within Florida seeking to clarify if the court agrees with their assertion that they (Travelers) are NOT liable under the provisions of the policy……

My reading is that this latest event is "Travellers" are seeking some back-up from a court review... for their position to DENY the claim by HOA and Fulton.??

What I do know is that this will not be be the last claim/court case involving MONEY... and lots of it.

Also...
I saw in passing a comment (can't remember who by) wondering if Brandy Green could be held liable for the "guests" she allowed to stay at her apartment?

Here is same news that Taurus linked to....

Trayvon Martin's Parents Seek Money From Fla. Fund
By MIKE SCHNEIDER Associated Press
ORLANDO, Fla. August 6, 2012 (AP)

Trayvon Martin's mother has asked for an undisclosed amount of money from a state fund set up to help crime victims with things like funeral expenses and counseling, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

The documents, obtained through a public records request, show Sybrina Fulton applied for the compensation benefits after her son was fatally shot last February by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in a gated community in Sanford, Fla. It was not immediately clear how Martin's family would use the money.

This claim on the State Fund to assist with expenses is in addition to the claim on the HOA and it's insurance company "Travellers"

There have also been collections of cash and a donation-line.

And still people refuse to see that one of the driving forces of the continued FALSE narrative about this case is plain old MONEY, with the Crump/Parks team at the heart of it? :45

According to the treehouse, Tracy is back to work and tweeting. I wonder if Sybrinia returned.

Wonder how Crump squares this? How does one make a claim on something when the insurance was purchased after the fact? We must be the dumb ones. I mean, wouldn't it be nice if we could all lose something or have it stolen and then purchase the insurance to make a claim and receive money? :11

My only explanation (guess)..... it was a policy taken out to protect against law suits... and the law suit came after the policy was taken out?

Quote:
On March 30, just over a month after Martin was killed, the homeowners association took out a liability policy with Travelers, and shortly thereafter Fulton made a claim for monetary damages in her son’s death.

Yes, it is sounding like the Homeowners Assoc. took the policy out AFTER the shooting. People are outraged that Crump is making a claim on a policy that was written after the murder occurred!

I think the Big Money claims are yet to come, and do all depend on the outcome of this case.... in particular the SYG (Immunity) hearing.

It is critically important that GZ win this.. and so gain immunity... which will in effect provide some measure of immunity to other groups.

I think it would be JUSTICE if GZ gained immunity and the law suit tables were turned. :24

Looks like Crump is going for every penny he can get. I don't think I have to wonder how much they have asked from the Crimes Compensation Trust Fund. I'm sure it's the maximum allowed.

"Fulton is seeking an undisclosed amount of money from the Crimes Compensation Trust Fund, which offers victims as much as $30,000. The AP is reporting that the state attorney general’s office has deemed Fulton eligible for compensation benefits but no check has been issued to date."

We can dream...... :98

Crump's idea of JUSTICE is to BUY it. Like you said upthread, it's all about the $$$$$. He's certainly not doing his clients any favors with his tactics.

Like Fulton is entitled to it. When was the last time Trayvon lived under her roof?

I can't wrap my head around her and her lawyer thinking she's entitled to a cash reward. Her son is dead and nothing will bring him back. It was a tragedy and she's suffering but why make others pay?

She decided he was out of her control and sent him to his father. From the details describing his time in Sanford, it didn't sound like he was suffering any consequences for his bad behavior with her in Miami. She and Crump holding others responsible is irresponsible.

It has been posted elsewhere....

Daralene Jones@DaraleneJones
In a statement: #TravyonMartin’s parents said any money they get from state trust fund b/c of son’s death will be donated.

But "donated" is actually donated to themselves :24

Daralene Jones@DaraleneJones
For those asking: family says money would be donated to #TravyonMartin Foundation, which aims to reduce gun violence

There doesn't seem to be many streets within the complex Retreat at Twin Lakes. I thought George being the Captain of the Neighborhood Watch might know their names because he lives there too. Been wrong before eh?

Are there more streets in the complex than this map - facing North?

It's hard to say. I lived somewhere one time and I used to always walk my dog all over the neighborhood, but I never could remember two streets in the area. I would even look at them and months later when I would try to tell someone the names I couldn't remember. LOL

From what I've read, it sounds like there were only 3 streets in the complex?
