Series of bombs in southwest China kills at least seven

A series of package bombs exploded on Wednesday in the southwest China city of Liuzhou, killing at least seven people and injuring 51, state media said.

The official Xinhua news agency said police had determined the blasts were a "criminal" act and identified the suspect as a 33-year-old local man surnamed Wei, but added the investigation was continuing.

Media images showed a collapsed building, smoke and streets strewn with rubble in Liuzhou in Guangxi region. Two people were missing, state radio said on its microblog.

Bombs were sent to 13 places ranging from hospitals and shopping malls to prisons and government offices, reports said, adding that a terrorist attack had been ruled out.

The Ministry of Public Security has sent a team of experts to help with the investigation, Xinhua said.

Russian passenger jet crashes over Sinai

A passenger plane belonging to a small Russian airline, which was flying over 220 people from an Egyptian resort, Sharm El-Sheikh to Saint Petersburg, has crashed over Sinai. Search and recovery operation is underway.

Fox News suspends two commentators for profanity while criticizing Obama

Ralph Peters, a Fox News "strategic analyst," called the president a "total pu---" who "doesn't want to hurt our enemies."

A couple of hours later Stacey Dash, a Fox contributor, said the president "didn't give a sh--" about Sunday night's terrorism speech.

"Earlier today, Fox contributors Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash made comments on different programs that were completely inappropriate and unacceptable for our air," Fox senior executive vice president Bill Shine said.

"Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel do not condone the use of such language, and have suspended both Peters and Dash for two weeks," he said.

Dash's profane remark was partially bleeped during "Outnumbered," a lunchtime talk show on Fox News.

Peters' comments were not bleeped at all. He spoke to anchor Stuart Varney on the Fox Business Network, a smaller sister of Fox News.

Ohio Senate debates shielding violence victims’ address info

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Senate is taking up legislation that would shield the addresses of victims of domestic violence, stalking and other crimes from use by government agencies.
The bill getting a first hearing in the State and Local Government Committee Tuesday would let victims apply for a confidential address from the Ohio secretary of state if they’re worried about attackers tracking them down.
The address could be used when registering to vote or for any business with a government agency, such as a city water department, school or public university. The secretary of state’s office would forward mail to the real address daily.
Victims of sexual assault and human trafficking could also apply. The Ohio House approved the bill last month.

The event, which appears to be the Big Apple’s attempt to answer anti-Trump protests March 11 in Chicago, will be held Saturday at noon. Approximately 15,000 people said they are interested in attending.

Ideal Conceal is awaiting patent approval for a double barreled, .380 caliber pistol that folds down to mimic a smartphone - complete with mock camera lens and headphone jack.

This design has caught the attention of many gun enthusiasts who anticipate its release, but anti-gun organizations and law enforcement worry about how it will contribute to future gun violence.

'What's disturbing is that this looks like a real smartphone,' Andrew Patrick, Deputy Communications Director at Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, told DailyMail.

One person arrested at Amsterdam airport

(CNN) Officials said Wednesday morning that Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport is fully operational again, hours after a section of the main terminal was cordoned off by police.

"We had a call about a situation," Amsterdam police spokesman Alfred Ellwanger said.

It was unclear what caused the security presence, but Tuesday night, airport officials wrote that part of the airport "is not accessible due to an incident.

Ellwanger said one person was arrested at the airport.

Another arrest was made at Leiden Centraal Station, about a 20-minute train ride from the airport, said Lodewijk Hekking, a spokesman for the Ministry of Justice and Security in Holland. It is unclear if the two arrests were related.

About two hours after the airport's tweet, officials wrote: "All areas are accessible again. Tomorrow, flights will run as usual."

Child dragged into water by alligator near Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. —Deputies are searching for a child who was dragged into the water by an alligator near Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The child, who is about 2 years old, officials say, was dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon about 9:30 p.m., Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rose Silva said.

Deputies are searching the waters and put crime-scene tape around the water, WESH 2 News has learned.

Silva said the child has not been found.

Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, father of “Clock Boy” Ahmed, filed a federal lawsuit in Dallas against the Irving Independent School District, the MacArthur High School Principal and the City of Irving, on August 8.
The lawsuit claims Ahmed Mohamed’s rights were violated when he was arrested last year after the 14-year-old brought to school a clock device that resembled a hoax bomb. Although Mohamed’s engineering teacher advised him to put it away, he did not listen. Instead, Ahmed took the “clock” to English class where he plugged it in. It started to beep and scared the teacher. No charges were ever filed against the teen once the situation sorted itself out, but Mohamed served three days of suspension before his family withdrew him from Irving ISD and relocated to Qatar where Mohamed accepted a full scholarship to attend a Qatar Foundation school.

10 Dead in 'Historic' Louisiana Flooding

Ten people have died from torrential rain and flooding in southeastern Louisiana, which Gov. John Bel Edwards today described as "unprecedented" and "historic."

About 40,000 homes have been affected by the flooding, Edwards said.

More than 20,000 people have been rescued and about 8,000 were in shelters Monday night, according to Edwards.

President Obama declared a federal emergency in the state on Sunday.

The world's highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge has closed indefinitely, 13 days after opening in China, due to the “urgency to improve and update” the construction. I am horrified of heights but you really can't see the depth below the bridge in the video.

The scary thing is, the bridge is limited to 8,000 people a day and ten times the number of visitors wanted to get onto the skywalk on a daily basis, an official said.
