During commentary, Smithy comented that for once they were getting on with the game.. and keeping up with over rate???

Fraid not Smithy... the bastards are THREE overs short today already :59

Like I said... :cool

NZ bowling "attack" is simply too limp to bowl the opposition out. I don't see how they can win a test match.. other than by some quirk of the weather, or somebody ploughing the pitch and planting potatoes ahead of Australia batting.

They COULD(at a pinch) concievably bat for long periods and drag the game out to a draw? Possibly? But even that seems unlikely.... unless a couple of Australian bowlers catch the flu.

LOL, now that's funny. :)

I quit watching-- horrible stream today, plus Rigor was getting on my nerves. But I have the tab open watching on espncricinfo. Can't believe no more wickets ALL day long.

So Aus should bat to 110 overs before they quit tonight?

I'm still watching... have it on TV off to one side... one doesnt HAVE to watch every ball of a test match closely :cool

Point of interest is this partnership just took the RECORD for Australian V NZ 3rd wicket partnership. Previously held by the Chapell Brothers (Greg and Ian)... infamous Aussie Cricket name.

Both captained Australia.. Ian is still part of Aussie commentary (and very knowledgeable).. Greg best remembered as the evil-doer who ordered his (other) brother Trevor Chapell to bowl THE UNDERARM delivery

Record was 264.... now 266 and still going

Against ALL countries, the Australian 3rd wicket record is...

Ponting and Lehman V WI 315 (2002/2003)

Current partnership 284 runs, 78.4 overs, RR: 3.61 (Smith 137, Burns 134)

OK! You got me watching again ... had to turn off Neil Young ;)

Well, that changes things (3rd wicket).

I'm the kiss of death at times. :(

Only up to 104 overs at 5:30.. so we do overtime ... AGAIN!!!

NZ are 6 overs less than MINIMUM required... I'd add 48 to Australian total.. and stop now :cool

So... Australia have cleared the deficit... close enough.
They now need to bat on today and make some sort of lead. If not for the loss of 2 wickets late last night, I would have expected them to bat on and on and on.. and maybe eventually declare with a lead of 300+
I think now they will bat until all out... they could still amass a lead of 300... who knows.

I wonder if Voges can get his batting average back up to 100+ ?
(currently 97.69)

I think around 42* puts his running average back over 100?

To maintain that average when(if) he goes out he needs 142+

Redoing my rough Voges average calc :cool

Clearly his total runs after 14 innings (batting his 15th now) to date include a Not Out .. so his total is divided by 13 to get his average.

1280 runs, 13 innings outs ===> 98.46 average

so... 20 more runs will give him average of 100 ( he has 13*... so 33* is target score)

To maintain that on going out he requires 133 runs

Voges 30/55 Av 99.77

He needs 3 more runs to show average 100

It's official... Voges batting average in Test Cricket is 100

1300 runs, average 100.00

(Still not out in his 15th innings and he previously has a Not Out score (269*))

NOW I get it! :D

And that's what it says.

I can't see Australia going ahead by 300 but we shall see. It's a funny game, eh?
