Always remember, Molly...."Cricket is a funny old game"

Loss of a couple of early wickets is a mere BUMP in the road. Australia have matched NZ total with 3 wickets down.

Khawaja likely scoring a century.. maybe another century (or more) from other batsmen.. will make for a normal test innings by Australia... on the other hand NZ were crap(mostly).. highest score 41.

Drinks (after an hours play)

NZ are complying with minimum over rate.. 15 bowled in 1st hour.

They do have these "drink breaks" every hour.. so why not calculate TE at each drinks break :cool

Lunch (1st Test, Day 2)

Image

New Zealand 183
Australia 238/3 (69.0 ov)

Australia lead by 55 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Bugger me!!!!
They just had to be one over short of minimum required :roll

A general point... watching test matches.... I always feel happy if the side batting first is all out by half way through day 2.
That is an indication (nothing is certain in cricket) that there will be time to get 2 innings done for both teams.. and a result (not a draw)

This game is WELL ahead of that... and its half way through second day

NZ first innings complete. All out half way through 1st day, well ahead of half way through 2nd day. Australia look set to bat a large part of the rest of today.. maybe survive the day, and bat on for a short part of tomorrow.

NZ innings will start (late today) early tomorrow with them being maybe 300+ in deficit.

Australia MAY be able to bowl NZ out (a second time) without needing to bat again themselves.... else they may be set a smallish target total to make in a second innings (4th/5th day)

Molly.....

Does your stream coverage include the Tea Break show..."The Dilmah Tea Party"?

Today it will include info on McCullum's career.

BTW
These buggers had better be up to 100 overs before tea break :stamp

I would be nice if Voges could get his century before tea Break

Adam Voges (rhb) 91/191 SR =47.64

This game COULD involve NZ batting in their second innings to save (if not win) the game.

They may require some sort of epic innings.. 500+... 600+

Perhaps a few centuries/double centuries... good if McCullum is involved in that for his pen-ultimate test match.

Tea Break

Image

New Zealand 183
Australia 330/5 (98.0 ov)
Australia lead by 147 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Only 98 friggin overs... NZ are 2 short... commentators happy that they are only 2 behind... I am NOT!! :59

They have had spinners bowling some overs.. they should be managing better than 30 overs per session... they are hopeless.. they need to be punished.. 16TE's :cool

I sure hope so, have watched before but don't know on which stream.

I have both open now. :)

Thx for letting me know!

Alan Border having a bit of fun with Rigor Richardson... asking about the famous clip of Rigor with cramp...

ASK.. and ye shall receive.. :cool

The incident was funny because it was Rigor....Richardson is the way he is... he used to get up everybody's nose even when he was a player... before he became a total dork as a commentator :)

*THIS* is the funniest cricket video of all time, Indian team cant control laughter, hilarious!

Interesting "trivia"

Voges in just his 14th test has batting average 98 (and change)... he has scored centuries in last 3 tests.. and been not-out (which helps the average)

IF he gets to 172* in this test his batting average will be 100+
(That average will be less if he goes out.. I suspect it will be still 100+ if he goes on to score 200 before going out)
(Remember legend Sir Donald Bradman (greatest cricketer of all time) ended his career with average 99.9)

Quote:
99.94
Don Bradman played in 52 Test matches for Australia from 1928 to 1948. World War II interrupted his career at its peak. He batted 80 times against England, the West Indies, South Africa and India for 6996 runs at that average of 99.94.

I am NOT suggesting any real comparison with Sir Donald Bradman... average after 14 tests is NOT likely to remain by end of a career :)

Voges 168... a 4 will give him a career average of 100 :)

Rumpole, I have been watching him closely since reading this at 55 ov.

"With all the hype re Khawaja at present we tend to forget Voges has a test average of 87 after 14 tests. Could this be another big day for the quite achiever...." ---- Those numbers are a bit skewed when you consider he's got the bulk of his runs against West Indies. Not taking away his good work here though.

:)
