England 318/8 (50 ov)

Target for South Africa is 319

And there is a chance of Image in the forecast. Field is soft from overnight rain. A couple of deep fielders have gotten their knees stuck in the ground.

Rumple, this is what I am watching.

Alternate:

I imagine you are impressed with De Kock? :cool

Makes a change to see exciting batting after watching "De Pussies" in NZ and Australia efforts last game.

The old 30 over trick to predict score....

South Africa 174/0 (30.0 ov)

Predicts 50 over score 348 :)

SA are doing this well....

139 off 117 balls required.... but no wickets lost.... and so that is relatively easily gettable from here.

South Africa require another 145 runs with 10 wickets and 20.0 overs remaining

At 30 overs, 174 x 2 = 348

The "double score" may show to be close with these two teams, more so than what we've seen recently.

LOL, you beat me, Rumpole!!! :stamp

De Kock.. a good wicketkeeper and aggressive, attractive to watch batsman..... reminds me of McCullum when he was a kitten.

Oh dear... DeKock is out... GREAT innings

Q de Kock c Root b Rashid 135 (117b 16x4 4x6) SR: 115.38

Last I saw SA require 80 off 80 balls... should be easy :)

I wonder why SA put David Wiese in that batting order?

His high score for ODI is 14.

------------------------------------
End of 40 overs

South Africa require another 63 runs with 8 wickets and 60 balls remaining (RR: 6.40, RRR: 6.30)

Maybe his ODI record does not reflect his performance in 1st class cricket?

Probably tried him as a "pinch hitter" to bash a few quick boundaries??

ETA
I did research.. this is only his 3rd ODI.. so ODI stats not meaningful

In 1st class cricket:
First-class 72matches, 117 Innings, 13 Not out, 3763 runs, HS 208, Av 36.18 SR 70

Thanks, Rumpole.

I forgot to mention I saw (for first time) a bowl that didn't bounce (called a full?) and batsman slapped it for a 6. ;)

Amla out.. but another great innings

HM Amla c †Buttler b Jordan 127 (187m 130b 13x4 2x6) SR: 97.69

NZ and Aust should take note... opening batsmen with SR around 100.. scorning centuries is the way to do it :cool

Only 8 required to win....

Molly
A ball that does not bounce is a "full toss"... typically not hard to hit almost anywhere for a 6 (or a 4)

A "mistake" by bowler.... often a fine edge between a "Yorker" (lands right on crease line) (hard to hit and stop hitting wickets, let alone score off).. considered a very good delivery....... or Full toss... a gift 6 runs/crap delivery.
