After 40 overs.....

New Zealand 221/4 (40.0 ov)

If they COULD score 10/over for last 10 overs, then they would post an OK score 321... not great... but OK

You are probably right.
Only 3 wickets if any.

Pitiful performance by NZ's middle line-up :(

Still enjoying it tho! :)

Innings Break

5.20 pm New Zealand have been dismissed for 246 in 45.3 overs after being 123 for 1 in the 19th over.
(Hopeless)

New Zealand 246 (45.3 ov)

I predict Australia will win inside 40 overs now :cool

Target for Australia 247 (4.94 r/o)

(To win in 40 overs.... 6.1 r/o)

I remember why I became "an Australian" for cricket :cool

And it will be worse with McCullum gone ( and Taylor back)

I just read about McCullum, this being his last ODI. I had no idea.
I knew he was retiring but didn't know a date had been decided. :(

First, McCaw ..... now McCullum. I'm about 15 years behind watching cricket and rugby.

Despite NZ's pathetic score.. I HOPE Australia make this an exciting innings to watch.. TRY and knock off the target within 40 overs.

They can always go to Plan B if they lose a couple of wickets early.

It is the Australian way to bat aggressively right from the start. :)

Also... apparently... 70 - 80% chance of rain by 7 or 8PM tonight.

If rain delays or even stops play.. Australia NEED to be ahead of the DL "par score"... which shouldn't be hard given the pathetic score NZ posted... but... it is another reason for Australia to get on with scoring runs sooner, rather than rely on scoring them later :cool

I think Australia should make a point of scoring 100+ after 15 overs.

Australia FAILED to make 100 in 15 overs...

Australia 83/2 (15.0 ov)

I appreciate plan A is dampened a little, with 2 wickets down.. but.. Smith and Bailey need to get going ...SOON (IMO)

It seems that Australia think the contest is to see who can be the most hopeless team :lol

Smith and Bailey NOT getting on with scoring.. and Smith just went out.. followed by Maxwell soon after

Australia 94/4 (19.0 ov)

We might just have a "game" on our hands after all :cool

However. This is still an EASY ask for Australia.

Required RR is 5 and Australia have 6 wickets in hand... they could cruise this :cool

A few more wickets (or RAIN) will change things.

Crazy match so far.
Aus started out good, high RR.

Your predictions are better than mine. LOL
I'm way off the charts, thanks for not making fun of me. :)

Hope I see the end.

Keep in mind the rain potential.

We are past 20 overs in Australian innings.. so we have a game officially

IF RAIN interrupts play a DL calc will apply

At 95/4 after 20 overs... Australia would ... LOSE!!!!
DL par score after 20 (4 wickets down) is 116/4

Duckworth Lewis Calculator

https://www.easycalculation.com/sports/ ... ulator.php

Feeding in current data..

Australia target after 30 overs = 137

So they would WIN if rain stopped play now.

Ah ha... another wicket falls.. that changes DL calc :cool

Australia now require 152/5 (after 30 overs)... they have 153/5 :eek

Australia could still cruise this.

The only hope for NZ is to bowl them out.. or at least take several more wickets and do a rain-dance ;)

NZ bowling attack (as always) simply does not look very scary.. like they might take a wicket with every ball. It has been a big failing of NZ cricket for years :cool
