With wickets in hand.. 10 per over should be gettable.... but it has not been that way in previous games.

IMO India are behind where they should be... another 100 taking total to 300 will give them a chance... but as I said prematch.. 350 would be a better score.

Thanks, Rumpole.

I said yes at first, then said no. Then deleted.

In other words, I have no idea and their RR hasn't improved since I asked. ;)

Exactly Molly!!

Somebody has to show what a good target is... Australia are certainly a team that can do that. Such things dont always work but go for it from the outset..... then. be more reserved if wickets fall. Even so... can still build up to 350 :cool

Good start both batsmen (now) have SR over 100 :)

I'd like to see for once a team score 100+ after 15 overs ( with one or none wickets down)

The ball just rolled onto fielders hat that fell off... IMO that should be an automatic 5 runs. (plus the one they ran??)

Commentators are not sure... are confirming.

I have always thought that was rule.. if ball hits "equipment" on the field (even sunglasses) it is 5 runs.

Very interesting! New rule to me ...

You called it, Rumpole. No wickets and close to 100.

WinViz agrees with you, lol!

My seat tonight .. on the big screen. This is a luxury in Texas. :)

I have seen it apply a few times... hitting a spare helmet that they place behind the wicket keeper when not being used by silly close fielder. Some grounds have a little "safe" in the ground big enough to hold a helmet :)

RULES are rules :stamp

Thin end of wedge.. fielders could start using their caps to catch the damned ball !!

... mind you that might be legal??? :lol

87 after 15 overs... must try harder!! :stamp

IMO, Finch needs to pick up the pace.

Only 4 x 4s after 61 balls.

Warner is holding his own. Thought he had a beer belly there for a while, but it was just his jersey. He's in perfect shape. :cool

Yeah.. I'd like to see Finch step it up .. just a little. He is doing OK... letting Warner take the lead.

As many ODI matches played, these stats just blow my mind... how many years it goes back where a record is broken.

    Number of previous instances
of two opening stands of 125 or
more by Aus pairs in a bilateral ODI
    series - 129 & 127 by Clarke-Haddin
    v SA in SA 2008-09.

172 runs, 27.0 overs, RR: 6.37 (Finch 79, Warner 88)

Somebody must have told Finch what you said Molly... 6 and a 4. His SR over a 100 now. Could be a race to get century first?

David Warner (lhb) 88/85 ... SR 103.52
Aaron Finch (rhb) 79/77... SR 102.59

As far and stats and records go.. the game has evolved. Tweaks to rules. Tweaks to field prep. Bigger better bats. And players have evolved more aggressive play.. via T20.
All records are there to be broken/reset with current games.

In the 80's when ODI started.. there were team scores in the 100+ range. 200 was a GOOD total.. 250 was an exciting game LOL

Oh, I didn't notice the SR ... last time I looked it was 88 something.

Would love to see BOTH of them get a century... my bet would be Warner 1st.

I am glad Smith decided to bat after winning toss, instead of waiting to see what India could do. He knows what they do.
