Stumps - Day 3

England 629/6d
South Africa 353/3 (130.0 ov)

South Africa trail by 276 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

That looks like a great come-back by South Africa... hanging in there to save the game. I cant see SA winning the game? but a draw seems likely.

Lunch - Day 4

GREAT Session for South Africa - Added to run tally while not losing any wickets.

England 629/6d
South Africa 428/3 (160 ov)

South Africa trail by 201 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

SA have continued to add to their total... saving the match for sure

SA have (almost) passed the follow on mark (430) and so avoided the follow on.

Also individual milestones achieved, or close to it

Faf du Plessis (rhb) 81/199 balls A CENTURY SOON (perhaps)
Hashim Amla (rhb) 200/467 balls DOUBLE CENTURY

However a THIRD new ball is now available as the innings has reached 160 overs.... Available Next session, after lunch

Stumps - Day 4

England 629/6d & 16/0 (6.0 ov)
South Africa 627/7d

England lead by 18 runs with 10 wickets remaining

So with parity achieved.. Near enough... South Africa declared and had a bowl at England for last 6 overs of the day.

Looks like a draw..

But England COULD set SA a (large) target and declare..... give SA a chance to make the runs, or England to bowl SA out... neither result likely.

Innings break

South Africa 313 (all out; 99.3 overs; 443 mins)
England 323 (76.1 ov) (all out; 76.1 overs; 368 mins)

England lead by 10 runs after the 1st innings

The sides have each scored about the same score in innings lasting a little over day's play (SA), a little under a day's play (Eng)

The test has most of 3 days remaining.... the poof of the pudding will be in the second innings... provide RAIN does not end up being a major factor.
