Well after seeing the Umpire get his call wrong... I think Australia sould be 3 wickets down..

Australia dont deserve to win... scoring at less than 4/ov :roll

As far as "sledging" goes.... AUSTRALIA are never short of a few nasty words themselves.... :cool

I wondered what you thought about that call.

Well GOOD to know Aus can give it back. That would have been a taunting penalty in the US ;)

Cricket is a funny old game... I think Aust back on track to win.. as I said when India finished their innings.. they were a few runs short.

Bailey made the century...

BUT.....Remember... but for a WRONG umpire decision... he was actually OUT first ball faced.. AND at a time when India were dominant.. Australia would have been struggling at 3 wickets down (for not many).. the bowler should have been on a hat-trick next batsman in as well. Unfortunately that WONG decision was a "game changer".

Australia win

India 309/3 (50 ov)
Australia 310/5 (49.3 ov)

It would have been MORE fun to watch (exciting ending) if India had scored 350.. as they should.

And it IS A SHAME when a WRONG umpire decision leads to a player who was out, going on to score a century :doh

I am NOT down on the umpire.. hard thing to see live.. but obvious on replay review. If anything, Indians have themselves to blame.. they wont buy into technology/3rd umpire reviews

12.50am India win the toss and opt to bat

Without seeing any TV coverage yet....the "gabba" pitch I expect to be a batsman's paradise.

India may need to score 300+ minimum.. maybe 350

The bad news is...

12.40pm Important news that it is sunny and dry for now. However, there is a forecast for rain later in the day. Ideally, you'd want to be batting on a surface like this but with a possible D/L interference....

I agree reason to bat first.. but also HUGE reason to get off one's arse (ass in USA) and score from the outset. The innings may not last the full 50 overs and the side batting second have the advantage of being able to adjust... bash if necessary, to meet any target adjustment under DL (Duckworth Lewis) calculation.

IMO these Indian batsmen are behind in runs scored... they can make up for that... but need to do it soon AND..... it's too late if they get out now.

Virat Kohli 16/26 ....SR 61.53
Rohit Sharma 34/39...SR 87.17

After 15 overs India 1/72

That is at least 30 runs short IMO :doh

You're right ... if they are going to end with a bigger target for Aus.

First game, at 15 overs they were 1/78 with 5.20 RR

Got 2nd wicket at 45 overs, and then they started dropping (as you say)

It is a "good platform" as they say. Both batsmen established and so they can now up the scoring... but.... it doesnt always work out that way. If a batsman goes out now (or soon) then the "good platform" counts for nothing.. less than nothing because subsequent batsmen start behind the required rate and have to make that up as well as perform in their own right.

Is "platform" the same meaning as partnership?

eta: I figured it out ... it's the result of the partnership. ;)

No :)

"Platform" just means a (team) foundation to build on. A good current partnership could be part of that.. but (for instance) the team with a good score (200+) and only 2 or 3 wickets down as last 10 overs start could be described as a "good platform" to "launch an assault" :)

Stats: 301 is best winning chase on this ground..

But as commentators have mentioned.. such records are deceptive... the modern game/style of play has uped the scores teams can make.

IMO 350 is the minimum India need... more would be better.

So Kohli run out :doh

That stuffs up the "Good platform" theory :roll

Virat Kohli 59 /67.... SR 88.05

Ultimately the TEAM need more than 6 runs per over.. so individuals HAVE to do better than SR 100... else somebody has to make up the short-fall.

End of over 30 (4 runs) India 166/2 (RR: 5.53)

Double the runs = 332

WinViz says 327

Another BAD umpire decision.. this time in India's favor (last game Baily (Australia) went on to score a century after he should have been out first ball).

I DO NOT have same sympathy for umpire with this one.. it was obvious in real time.

India need to get with the program and except technology and 3rd umpire reviews... though maybe NOT if they get a wrong decision in their favor. :roll
