!00 runs ( and no wickets falling) in the 1st 15 overs would be a good omen :cool

Slow start.... slowest I have seen

They mentioned at 2.4 overs... in the last game, NZ had scored 50... this game...... Nz 3 :wall

They need a kick up the ass.... they need McCullum :doh

They seem to be Channeling their inner Rigor Richardson... this is how he batted :roll

Rumpole's tip: (something to watch)

In a proper ODI with score 300 (or more) the batsmen HAVE to have a Strike rate around 100% (6 per over, a run off every ball)

Going out is bad enough.. but going out after occupying the crease for a long period for few runs is a SIN!!!

If the team is to score 300 (6 per over) then batsmen HAVE to strike at 100%

Anybody even slightly below that means some other batsman will have to make that up... strike well above 100%

After 7 overs:

Martin Guptill (rhb) 25 off 24 balls SR 104.16
Tom Latham (lhb) 11 off 17 balls SR 64.70

Oh shit.... Richardson joins the commentary :wall

MJ Guptill c Dilshan b Chameera 30 (28b 4x4 1x6) SR: 107.14

You got close to your 15 overs prediction, Rumpole.
If not for the slow start, they would be at 100.

No more wickets is a good thing. :)

Guptil did his bit with SR 107

These two a bit below par... they better catch up BEFORE they go out :cool

Latham gone.. SR not quite there

TWM Latham c Pradeep b Vandersay 42 (47b 5x4 1x6) SR: 89.36

Latham should be whacked on his bare ass with a cricket bat... 11 strokes to make up for SR 11 short

----

Taylor also gone. That is good news... he could waste a LOT of valuable time at the crease.

I was busy when Taylor was up those brief few minutes. :roll

Pitiful .. with his experience and praise, he should do better than that. :doh

Chameera is better at bat than Taylor!

Gorgeous -- simple but nice grounds-keeping!

Half way through innings...

New Zealand 133/3 (25.0 ov)

One "rule of thumb" is to TRIPLE the score after 25 overs (with wickets in hand) to estimate final total :cool

That makes it close to 400 :eek

THAT is not likely... trust me.

ANOTHER old adage is "Double the score after 30 overs" to estimate final score... lets see what that is :cool

Another HOPELESS batting effort (IMO) by Nicholls

HM Nicholls b Chameera 20 (31b 1x4 0x6) SR: 64.51

A SR less than 100 is WASTING valuable balls faced :doh

After 30 overs NZ has 150 so they are on track to make 300 (double 30 over score)

Frankly I dont think that is good enough... they could do better than that... they still have time.

What is it about a 100% strike rate that these batsmen cant grasp?

Williamson out

Even though people are saying how great he is.. the fact that he occupied the crease for some balls he did not score off (on average) is NOT good. Somebody has to make up for that as well as score their own quota of a run a ball. :doh

KS Williamson c Chameera b Siriwardana 59 (73b 7x4 0x6) SR: 80.82

Taylor at least only pissed about not scoring for 2 balls. :)

So in a funny twisted way Taylor did better than Williamson
Taylor wasted 2 balls
Williamson wasted 14

Luke Ronchi OUT! :doh
