My Math based on making up 8 overs.... but 3 taken off for innings break and one being bowled at NZ already today is.....

The SL innings (if it is still in action) should be up to 94 overs at stumps tonight.

3 an over? SL should have 282 at stumps.. added to their lead.. so a lead of 337 :cool

Thanks for your analyses (and math) so for today, Rumpole. VERY interesting.

I was hoping for a bit more of batting by NZ today.

But here we go. :D

Nah.. tail enders batting on for hours scoring few runs is BORING... no matter which team you support.

Better to get NZ innings done.. and get on with the game... for both sides.

As I outlined.. NZ could make the most of this.. win the game.. they just have to get off their asses and BOWL like they know how!!

It is the good old "contest between bat and ball" that test cricket is all about :cool

Oh I know. He does like to listen to himself. :roll
I've got volume turned down.

I have Vishal Dikshit as espn commentator today. :)

I need to watch it, because stream is in delay again.
I like real-time play.

LOL!

No, I am reading commentator ... I watch the stats of each bowl, plus other stats. I'll show you at lunch :) My guy's name is Dikshit. He's currently letting two ppl argue about whether the "tail-enders should have scored more runs."

k

according to espn...

Sri Lanka RR 3.55
Min overs remaining 86 (after 9 bowled in SL innings)

RR on track with Rumpole's advice (3+).... :cool
The espn math suggests 95 overs to be played in SL innings today.... I had 94 :cool

Passing traffic at this cricket thread need spoon feeding.. gnomesayin? :cool

Smithy is opining.. that NZ need to "pull finger" they need 2 or 3 quick wickets.

McCullum has never lost a test as captain in NZ.. (he has won 6, drawn 5)

I'll take it. Bad call offsets the bad calls that have gone the other way, imo.

Dikshit agrees with you. :cool

Nah.. bad calls are bad calls... and especially BAD if 3rd umpire is overruling the on-field umpire.. It is supposed to be absolutely SURE (and then some) to do that... as in when ball tracking is viewed it has to be entire ball and not part of ball hitting stumps. There was NOTHING absolute in the replays.. the batsman should get the benefit of doubt.. and more than that the UMPIRE get benefit of doubt and so his decision should stand. VERY poor 3rd upire work.. nearly as bad as Llong in Australia.... seeing clear hotspot and saying there was no evidence of ball hitting bat. 3rd umpire thinking he sees deviation despite no hot spot and no snicko is silly... camera angle in close is deceptive as to deviation.

And... the introduction of third umpire was supposed to be a safety review on an obvious error by umpire ( rare but they do happen) it was never meant to make a decision where the evidence was inconclusive..
