I don't totally agree with that. The defense can not propose any old thing and expect the State to disprove it. They coul (for instance) say an alien space ship came down and zapped Colleen.... it can not be disproved.. because there is no evidence. The same applies to Chism being nuts... there is no evidence that he was nuts.. it is just an excuse.
