6:41 am
We're expecting to hear from a mobile phone analyst today to see what calls and messages were sent or received to Pistorius and Reeva's phones.

The trial has now been extended to run until May 16 and Pistorius has had to sell his home in order to pay the mounting legal costs.

6:33 am
Good morning and welcome to our live coverage of the trial of South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius.

The Blade Runner is on trial for the alleged murder of model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The court was adjourned last Wednesday until today. State prosecutor Gerrie Nel said he thinks he has four or five more witnesses and he planned to use the break to properly consult with them.

It means the prosecution has only called a fraction of its potential witnesses.

Nel: calls the next witness - Anette Stip. She is sworn in.

Stipp: I had flu and woke up in a coughing fit. I was lying in bed. Looked at clock, it was 0302

Stipp: while lying in bed I heard three sounds which I believed to be gunshots. My husband confirmed that he also heard it.

Stipp: when she re-entered the room, she looked at the clock 0317 - thats when she heard three more noises like gunshots

7:56 am
When she looked out the lights were on in both houses opposite their home.

She said the house on the right had no open windows, just lights on the top floor.

The house to the left had one of the sliding windows open and the lights were on.

7:53 am
Annette Stipp said she also heard a male screaming.

After the second set of shots there was no more screaming, either male or female.

They eventually got through to security and alerted them to what was happening.

7:51 am
They thought it was a "family murder" and they were concerned there were children involved.

She said she wondered which house it was coming from and her husband, Dr Stipp, said it was coming from the house to the left [Pistorius' house].

They called security and heard what she thought was three more shots at 3.17am.

7:49 am
She spoke to her husband and he also said he heard gunshot sounds.

She told him not to go out as they did not know where the shots were coming from.

Then she said they heard a woman screaming so they went out to have a look.

The screaming continued as they walked out.

7:47 am
The trial has now started again.

The first witness is Annette Stipp who has said she does not want to be televised.

She said she went to bed between 10 and 10.30pm on the night of the shooting.

She woke up at 3.02am with a fought and heard three sounds "like gunshots".

While speaking with a group of friends on Whatsapp Annette Stipp was asked how her Valentine's Day was going.

8:03 am
They went to bed at about 4.30am after the shooting.

They were told they would be put in touch with Pistorius's lawyer, but they did not connect the two.

It was only the next morning when she got a call from a friend she had been chatting to on Whatsapp that she realised who it was that had shot the gun.

She added: "I don't think I will ever forget the screaming".

7:59 am
On February 21 this year there was another incident.

They woke up with people arguing. She said they were not getting up this time.

He went out this time and closed the balcony doors, going to bed.

Neighbours asked if they could hear the commotion but they said that they had chosen to ignore it at that stage.

Neighbours said there were people in the garden.

In the early hours of March 18 they woke up from screams. They heard a male screaming at a higher and lower pitch.

"I was completely annoyed because it was half three in the morning".

She saw men standing in the garden and "made a comment to them" then went back into the house.

Ms Stipp is now being cross examined by Kenneth Oldwage instead of Roux.

She told the court that she and her husband did discuss the event adding that it was a traumatic experience and only natural to do so.

While she hasn't followed the case "religiously" she said it was hard to avoid because it is on TV, radio and newspapers everywhere.

She added that she has not compared here evidence with that of other witnesses.

The Stipps' main bedroom window is just 72metres from the bathroom in Pistorius' house where Reeva was shot.

8:35 am
We're slowly but surely getting to the point about how clear Ms Stipp's view was of Pistorius' house.

In an evidence photo shown to the court it is clear someone was holding back the curtains with their hand.

Ms Stipp insists the curtains were normally tied back.

She says she had a clear view of the house from her bed.

8:26 am
Oldwage is now questioning Ms Stipp about when she says she saw lights switched on in the house.

He wants to know exactly how she got out of bed, on the night in question.

Seems to be nitpicking on this to try and establish exactly which room had a light switched on in the Pistorius house.

8:22 am
Oldwage clarifying with Ms Stipp that she was in bed when she heard the shots.

She says she then heard the screaming, "the female screaming", she got up to see what was going on.

She went out onto the balcony and said she could heard the woman screaming.

"You could not hear words, it was just screaming."

Ms Stipp says the screaming was "loud and clear" and not muffled.

8:15 am
Ms Stipp is asked by Oldwage if her alertness was the same during the first noises she heard as when she heard the second set of noises.

She said that her level of alertness was the same.

Ms Stipp says she thought she heard "three gunshots".

Oldwadge tells her that it is "common course" (evidence agreed by both prosecution and defence) that four shots were fired.

She says she may have missed one in the time she was telling her husband to call for help.

8:57 am
Oldwadge (we've just been told this spelling is correct) now asking Ms Stipp about the sound test carried out on 21st Feb this year.

She said she couldn't distinguish between male and female voices then.

She also says though, the sounds were not as "clear" as the night of Reeva's shooting in 2013.

8:50 am
Ms Stipp now asserting that she is "absolutely convinced" she heard a male and female voice on that night.

She said they had two different pitches.

8:48 am
Oldwage is now questioning Ms Stipp about timings.

He says there is "time lost" from when she says she first hears gunshots.

He then reprimands Ms Stipp for interrupting him. Rather unnecessary that.

8:40 am
Ms Stipp said immediately after the incident she thought she and her husband had heard "a family murder".

She denied that she was "in shock" but agreed that her emotions were in a state of "high alert".

9:15 am
Ms Stipp stands by her evidence that she believes both lights, the toilet and the bathroom, were switched on.

Oldwadge then asks the judge for 15-minute tea break.

Granted.

Gripping stuff once again.

9:12 am
Ms Stipp being told that her husband testified that he saw "two lights" coming from Pistorius' house.

She says she did not listen to his evidence.

Oldwadge says her husband also testified that there was stronger intensity of light coming from window on the right than the left.

He reveals that the toilet light was "broken" and couldn't have been switched on at the time.

9:03 am
Oldwadge asking if she was in a state of "high alert", as she agreed earlier, how did she not hear "something as loud as a gunshot"?

Ms Stipp then asked about what happened next.

She says her husband got dressed and left the house at around 3.30 to see if he could help.

He came back at around 4.20am and explained what happened.

9:59 am
Oldwadge continues taking her through her statement.

Ms Stipp says she heard the sound she thought was gunshots, then got out of bed and went onto the balcony with her husband.

That's when she says she heard the woman screaming.

9:52 am
Ms Stipp is now being taken through her police statement.

She tells Oldwadge she read through it yesterday.

She admits that one aspect of it is not "factually correct".

It's to do with seeing someone walking across the bathroom window.

9:46 am
Ms Stipp getting a bit fed up of Oldwadge now.

She repeats her assertion that she does not believe the female screaming could be Pistorius.

She also repeats that the screaming continued up until "a second set of shots".

9:43 am
We're back underway.

Oldwadge is asking about what Ms Stipp heard from the house.

She insists she is "absolutely certain" the screaming she heard was female.

"The whole voice that you could heard was female," she says.

10:27 am
Oldwadge has had Anette Stipp under cross-examination for a long time now.

Around an hour and a half.

Clearly, the defence wants to put her evidence under scrutiny.

10:23 am
Oldwadge pushing Ms Stipp to admit she doesn't have a clear idea on the timeframe of the order of events.

She concedes that she can't put an exact time on how long she means by "a moment".

10:19 am
Oldwadge nitpicking his way through Ms Stipp's statement.

He has a go at her assertion that the screams "quietened down" after the first volley of shots.

Her testimony in court has been different, he says.

Judge doesn't really follow this point and jumps in again for clarification.

She ends by saying "well, you'll be able to argue that at the end of the case."

She clearly doesn't accept Oldwadge's argument as fact at the moment.

10:11 am
Gerrie Nel jumps in when Oldwadge says she has had "a second failure of memory".

It was in reference to Ms Stipp's assertion that she didn't remember dog's barking.

Nel says that's not fair because these are the words the witness used, it has not been proven by the defence that she is not correct.

It's an important difference.

Judge appears to be ruling in Nel's favour, although Oldwadge smirks saying "I believe I've touched a nerve".

10:08 am
Oldwadge doing his best to try and totally discredit Ms Stipp here.

He asks why she would sign an affidavit when she knows it contains such a factual error.

She says she thought about it later and realised the mistake.

10:06 am
Oldwadge picks up on something he says is "rather peculiar" in her statement.

It's a paragraph that is scratched out and initially by Ms Stipp.

She agreed that police deleted it because it was a change.

Oldwadge using this to now bring up the "error" that in her statement it says she saw a man moving in the window, when she admits now she did not.

10:34 am
Oldwadge now having a go at her assertion about the number of shots fired.

Ms Stipp says again that she thinks she didn't hear a fourth shot because she and her husband were talking.

10:31 am
Oldwadge goes back to the argument about whether the bathroom light was on.

Defence maintains it was not working so couldn't have been.

Not clear whether they have any evidence to back this up.

Ms Stipp maintains she saw the light coming from the bathroom.

11:03 am
Oldwadge now referring to Ms Stipp's statement about the two sets of sounds she heard.

He points to the fact she used two different words to describe them.

Ms Stipp says this just "semantics" and insists to her they sounded the same.

Now we're taking lunch.

Oldwadge says he may have one more matter for the witness after that.

10:59 am
We're back underway.

Oldwadge is having a go at the photo that is supposed to show Ms Stipp's view of Pistorius' house.

He is saying that the cameraman had to move the curtain so get a proper view.

Ms Stipp fights back saying that it not an entirely accurate picture of what she could see.

10:51 am
Even Pistorius is finding this painfully slow cross-examination a chore, it seems.

10:48 am
Oldwadge asks Ms Stipp about the sound test carried out this year.

She says the screams were "completely different" because they had "very little emotion".

Oldwadge now confirming with Ms Stipp that the witnesses were all kept in a room together prior to testifying.

She says she was in a room with her husband, and Michelle Burger and her husband at one point.

Oldwadge now asks for five-minute adjournment to consult with Pistorius.

10:43 am
Oldwadge now having a go at Ms Stipp's evidence that her husband didn't get through to security straight away.

Phone records show that he did.

Judge Masipa unhappy that it is being put that Ms Stipp has made "another" mistake.

Is it not that her husband made a mistake and she is simply repeating what she was told?

Oldwadge argues with the judge for several minutes over this point, which surely seems to be doing more harm than good.

He invites the judge to defend the prosecution case - and she does.
