We are being taken through more crime scene pictures, with the court shown a "possible bone fragment", and an image of a bloody bath towel partially covering a door panel near a cartridge case.

You can also see hair strands on a fragment of gun casing.

Van Staden says he picked up the blood-stained towels and found another iPhone, which he photographed.

He goes back to another picture, pointing out which towels the phone was found under.

Prosecutor Nel is trying to show the court the scene was photographed prior to anything being moved - counter to the defence's claim the scene was tampered with in some way.

We see an image of the English Willow Lazer cricket bat used to beat down the toilet door. It has 12 signatures on it.

Looking at pictures from the scene including blood spatter and ballistics, Van Staden says pictures marked as being taken on February 15 were actually taken on March 8.

A graphic image of a toilet covered in blood causes Pistorius to put his hands over his eyes.

There is damage to the tiles slightly higher than the toilet.

Some of the pictures taken of the second bedroom and its content were taken on February 17 the court is told. Van Staden says he was at the scene on the 14, 15, 16 and 17 of February.

After a long morning, the hearing takes an early lunch break.

Van Staden says Pistorius had an alarm system with beams outside.

The court then sees a picture of a safe inside a wardrobe, containing ribbons of medals and a box of .38 'special' cartridges.

Pistorius' brother Carl emptied the safe, and gave the bullet to lawyers before taking the other items inside.

The contents was photographed before Carl took them.

Roux wants to know how many photos of OP he took.

Roux says LOTS from all sorts of angles... Van Staden denies this. Roux wants him to look at original photos...Van Staden says that will take 10 mins, so adjourn for 10 mins


I predict that sooner or later there will be vanished photos... taken and now not shown.

I see people saying how marvellous and thorough and professional Van Staden is

It may seem that way now, but my bet is that he is just as Mickey Mouse as the rest of the cops..... we'll see.

Van Staden says he was joined by others later, but cannot say how many pictures he took of Pistorius.

Pistorius will claim he took a "great number" of pictures, from the front, back, and lifting up his feet.

But Van Staden says that is not true but there may be some pictures which have not been used.

We take another break so they can find the pictures.

The court is told that Aimee Pistorius fetched clothes with a friend from her brother's wardrobe after the shooting.

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel finished his questioning, and Barry Roux is now cross-examining.

He asks Van Staden was alone when he took the pictures, and he says yes.

Van Staden says he put all the pictures he took of Pistorius in the albums for the case.

But Roux says there were nine, and he knows of only four?

It's said four of the pictures are of Pistorius, the others of his prosthetic legs.

Roux maintains he took many more photos, but Van Staden denies this.

Van Staden says after inspecting the upstairs of Pistorius' house, he went into the garage where Pistorius was.

He says Pistorius was "very quiet and emotional... crying."

Pistorius had washed his hands, but Van Staden still conducted a primary residue test. He photographed the accused's lower and upper arms.

We're back in court again.

Van Staden says he took nine pictures of Pistorius.

Roux says the witness arrived at the scene between 5am and 5.05am, but Van Staden despites this. He earlier told the court he arrived at 4.50am.

I wonder... idle speculation... Van Staden unable/unwilling to produce photo files etc???

Shown to have been lying totally? How much of a farce does it take before you dismiss charges? I don't see how a conviction relying on the South African Police "investigation" can be deemed to be "Safe"
