Jordan,
I believe Donavon is on parole. They met in jail. Donavon can't have contact with convicted felons while on parole. Read all of this on the Facebook page. As soon as Jodi was convicted, people started contacting the parole office to make it known that Donavon was talking with Jodi. next thing you know Donavon is no longer in court so there must be some truth to it!

She still scares me ... I think she had to be insane to do that and still is then.

I am just happy she is alone in a cell and don't think much about her now because it hurts me too much remembering Travis and all he went thru, in his OWN home. Hell hath no fury like a total WHACKO scorned.

The Hearing is set for August 26th - will be interesting to see what the outcome of that is.

Arias judge denies motion to vacate death option
Posted: Aug 15, 2013 7:18 AM Updated: Aug 15, 2013 7:18 AM
Posted by Steve Stout

PHOENIX (AP) - The judge in Jodi Arias' murder case has denied a motion by defense attorneys to set aside the Arizona jury's determination that Arias killed her one-time lover in an "especially cruel" manner, a finding that made her eligible for the death penalty.

Arias was convicted of first-degree murder May 8 in the stabbing and shooting death of Travis Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home. The same jury failed to reach a unanimous decision on her sentence.

Her case is now in limbo as prosecutors decide whether to put on another penalty phase with a new jury in pursuit of the death penalty or settle for life in prison.

A hearing is set for Aug. 26.

Judge Sherry Stephens previously indicated she wanted to set a new trial date for September.

Reminder:

While things are slow in the case it's a good time to check out other things at RT. Two links I use constantly to keep up with everything going on at RT are the View new posts link near the top right, under the date; and View active topics located near the top left, under the date of your last visit.

Of course, the Board index is worth exploring for topics that maybe aren't as active now, but should be, or to see if a topic you're interested in is listed, or should be! :)

Jodi Arias Trial Update: What Happens Next?
By Selena Hill | First Posted: Aug 20, 2013 09:56 AM EDT

The case surrounding Jodi Arias' first-degree murder of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008 has captivated the nation—and it isn't over yet. As Arias sits in an Arizona jail cell awaiting the selection of another jury for a new sentencing phase, what's next for the embattled defendant?
During the intial trial, defense attorneys argued that the 32-year-old California native killed Alexander in self-defense because he was physically and emotionally abusive and sexually exploited her, reports the Associated Press. However, the jury sided with prosecutors who claimed that Arias' jealousy drove her to deviously plot and carry out a cruel revenge murder after he began seeing other women following the couple's breakup.

Arias was convicted of first-degree murder on May 8 in the ghastly death of Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home. The original jury only took three hours of deliberation to decide Arias had killed Alexander in an "especially cruel, heinous, or depraved" manner that would warrant the death penalty. Medical examiners found that Arias stabbed Alexander 27 times, primarily in the back, torso and heart. She also slit Alexander's throat from ear to ear, nearly decapitating him, and shot him in the face, before she dragged his bloodied corpse to the shower. In total, the gruesome killing was done in a little less than two minutes.
However, the same jury failed to reach an unanimous decision on her sentence. As a result, she will face another trial to determine whether she will be sentence with capital punishment or life in prison.

A new hearing will take place on Aug. 26.

When the upcoming hearing begins Arias' Lawyers want the jurors' personal Twitter accounts monitored - I think in light of all that has gone before - they are quite right to do this.

Hey, I think it should be standard practice in all cases, Wroughead.

What? no, I don't think JA should have prior access to anyone's twitter. So she can use it to her advantage like she did in her mitigation. Remember, teach sign language, book club, Spanish...

She can research these people and tailor her argument to fit the jurors....

I hadn't thought of that, BertaBlue. I'd guess that's pretty much standard practice these days anyway, don't you think? My concern was trying to weed out the fame seekers, and those commenting when they shouldn't be. It would certainly open a can of worms though, because I know I wouldn't want a murderous defendant having access to any of my info, kwim?

I believe the defense asked for this phase not be televised. I don't know what the judge will decide. I heard on HLN if it is televised they will follow it.

I would be so disappointed if this is not televised, as I like to study body language and facial expression in cases such as this. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I'd lose interest for the most part.

REMINDER
There is a hearing tomorrow

Arias' attorneys submit request for camera ban in court
Posted: Aug 24, 2013 12:07 PM Updated: Aug 24, 2013 12:08 PM
By Troy Hayden, FOX 10 News

PHOENIX - A big hearing in the Jodi Arias murder trial is coming up on Monday, and today, we learned about new moves by her defense team to make sure we don't see any more of her until she is either sentenced to death or life in prison.

Arias was convicted of first degree murder. The jury couldn't decide on life or death.

On Monday we should find out if the penalty phase of her case will be re-tried. It looks like it is going to be.

Her defense attorneys don't want any cameras in the courtroom this time around.

The Jodi Arias murder trial became a nationwide spectacle, with every minute of the proceedings broadcast on cable TV and the internet. Millions tuned in.

But that could change.

In a filing released Friday, Arias and her defense team are asking for an all-out ban on cameras in the courtroom. And if any video is allowed, that that video not be aired until after the entire trial is over.

Arias and her attorneys also want to be able to question prospective jurors individually and with no time limit.

And as we reported earlier this week, the defense also wants access to the Twitter accounts of prospective jurors so they can keep an eye on what they are doing online.

The judge has to rule on all of these motions. I'll be in court on Monday morning. I'll let you know what happens.
