Trayvon Martin’s father to appear Wednesday on Capitol Hill

Trayvon Martin’s father, Tracy Martin, will appear on Capitol Hill on Wednesday afternoon to offer remarks to a hearing of a newly formed caucus.

The Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys will hold its first hearing starting at 3 p.m., during which Tracy Martin will offer opening remarks, according to a release from caucus co-chairs Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) and Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.).

The title of the hearing is “The Status of Black Males: Ensuring Our Boys Mature Into Strong Men.”

The three witnesses set to testify are:

David Johns, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans

Michael Eric Dyson, professor at Georgetown University

Kweisi Mfume, former NAACP president, congressman and Congressional Black Caucus chairman

To be fair... as far as we know... Tracy has many sons... and yet only one was a drug dealing, violent thug.

Tracy may well have perhaps an 75% "success" rate (not dead or in jail), taking all his sons into account.

I guess that Fruit will be talking about all his OTHER sons? His fathering techniques and skills

I'd need to see evidence of that... all of it. But especially only one was a drug dealing, violent thug. Oh wait, especially that none are in or have been to jail. Oh wait, no, all of it. I was right the first time.

And even if it's true, I'd say the difference is that they had mothers other than Traymom™. I wouldn't credit Traydad™ for them not being violent thugs, drug dealers, or jailed. I mean, we know how he treated TM™ after he was suspended again - he left him alone, basically for the weekend, if not actually.

If only Traymom™ hadn't thrown him out... if only Traydad™ had stayed home... if only Traydad™ had arranged for a responsible adult to keep tabs on him if Traydad™ absolutely had to go out... I mean, the list is endless.

You forgot to mention the one left to look out after him, the mature 12 year old (mature = 24-36 months).

Oh yes, the 15 12 year old with the headphones on playing video games, who couldn't hear/see all of the commotion after TM™ got shot right? The one was paying so much attention to TM™ while they were "playing video games" together, that he couldn't remember if TM™ used the telephone.

Bill O'Reilly's talking points on race hit hard on babies born out of wedlock. I wrote to him about Tracy's contribution to these statistics. Also told him about Tracy being the opening speaker for this new CBC. Perhaps part of the problem in the black community is raising up the wrong role models. Tracy is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
