I don't think the ingredients in OTC cough syrup are part of a normal tox screen and at the time, they had no reason to look for it. I mean, it's possible, but it doesn't seem likely to me. Of course, I'd really like to know...

You think it would take that much, JG? I was thinking $300 and a bottle of Boone's Farm... ;)

This was discussed on other blogs (I think LI) and if I remember correctly someone there said they wouldn't have done a through enough tox check for codeine(3-methylmorphine is the long name) at the autopsy at that time - the shooting was still off the radar, and that's why such a sloppy perfunctory exam was conducted.

There may be references to him drinking that in the recovered text files. I don't know what happens to them, now that the trial is over. As evidence, are they now or will they be available for public scrutiny? Does anyone know if they'll ever be released? I can't think of a better antidote to the lying meme of 'The Martyred Child-Trayvon' that continues to be foisted on the public.

George Zimmerman juror plans to write book, agent says
Juror B37 has signed with a literary agent but there is no book deal yet.

Just two days after George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a book agent today confirmed that one of the jurors who reached that verdict plans to write a book about the high-profile trial.

Literary and media manager Sharlene Martin said she has signed the juror, still publicly known only as B-37, the designation she was given during jury selection, and her husband to write a book describing her experience as a juror and explaining the controversial verdict she and the five other jurors reached.

"My hope is that people will read Juror B37's book, written with her attorney husband, and understand the commitment it takes to serve and be sequestered on a jury in a highly publicized murder trial and how important, despite one's personal viewpoints, it is to follow the letter of the law," Martin said in a statement. "It could open a whole new dialogue about laws that may need to be revised and revamped to suit a 21st century way of life.

"The reader will also learn why the jurors had no option but to find Zimmerman Not Guilty due to the manner in which he was charged and the content of the jury instructions," the statement says.

I hope lawyers such as Dershowitz keep the pressure on the Florida Bar to take actions against Corey/prosecution. It would be so nice to see them disbarred for their blatant disregard of their oath to uphold Florida law.

No need for humble Mr. Rumpole...

I have only had the pleasure of Mr. Nugents acquaintance once, and that was backstage, at one of his concerts, back in 1987. Interesting fellow to say the least. My brother, on the other hand, thinks he's the....um....shizzle (?)...LOL. I'm not all into that critter carnage, so visiting him at his ranch in Michigan just isn't on my bucket list !

Actually, YES ! It can be started by merely starting a group page on facebook......invite all of your friends to join, have your friends invite their friends, and so on. Before you know it, you'll have a community. As, via the fb page, for your community to tweet Piers Morgan, HLN, etc....go post this idea, also, on GZ's supporters pages. Believe me, it works !

Lawyers Reacting to Zimmerman Verdict

Lawyers are hitting the airwaves en masse to opine on the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. I gave up TV commenting in 2008 (12 years was enough), but having spent so much of the last 16 months analyzing every detail of the George Zimmerman case here and at our forums, I made an exception yesterday for a quick appearance on CNN. Since I've received requests from a few readers, I'm posting a short clip of the last thing I said.

Dershowitz: Zimmerman Special Prosecutor Angela Corey Should Be Disbarred

...

MIKE HUCKABEE: You have said that you thought the prosecutor ought to be disbarred, that's a pretty serious type of violation to get a person disbarred. It is that serious to you?

ALAN DERSHOWITZ: Right, it is. She submitted an affidavit that was, if not perjurious, completely misleading. She violated all kinds of rules of the profession, and her conduct bordered on criminal conduct. She, by the way, has a horrible reputation in Florida. She's known for overcharging, she's known for being highly political. And in this case, of course she overcharged. Halfway through the trial she realized she wasn't going to get a second degree murder verdict, so she asked for a compromised verdict, for manslaughter. And then, she went even further and said that she was going to charge him with child abuse and felony murder. That was such a stretch that it goes beyond anything professionally responsible. She was among the most irresponsible prosecutors I've seen in 50 years of litigating cases, and believe me, I've seen good prosecutors, bad prosecutors, but rarely have I seen one as bad as this prosecutor, [Angela] Cory. (Huckabee, July 14, 2013)

Alan Dershowitz vs. Angela Corey over misleading Affidavit of Probable Cause

There should be a special prosecutor appointed to investigate this special prosecution.

In early April 2012, Special Prosecutor Angela Corey decided not to take the George Zimmerman case to a Grand Jury, opting for the filing of a Criminal Information which then was presented along with an Affidavit of Probable Cause. The Court found probable cause for the charges.

It turned out, once pre-trial discovery was exchanged, that the affidavit upon which probable cause was found had not disclosed a lot of significant exculpatory details. There was no mention of the significant injuries to Zimmerman, or of John Good’s eyewitness account that Martin was on top of Zimmerman hitting him Mixed Martial Arts style. All the Affidavit said on the subject of the physical confrontation was that there was “a struggle.”
