Maybe a chance to educate the Texan family on CRICKET!! :cool

Yesterday, I listened to The Queen (Betty II) delivering the Christmas message to us "subjects".

She did not mention Cricket once :eek

The Boxing Day Test

A Test match played in Australia at The Melbourne Cricket Ground V Whichever side is Touring Aust that year Always commences on "Boxing Day" (The day after Christmas), 26th December. Unfortunately that translates to Christmas day in the USA. 5:30 pm Christmas Day, Texas Time :doh

It's an "event". Often Celebs (who follow cricket) turn up. Even If I have not been following cricket in the season.. I have always watched the Boxing Day Test.

2nd Test - Australia v West Indies
Sat Dec 26 - Wed Dec 30 10:30 local (23:30 GMT -1d | 12:30 NZDT)
Melbourne Cricket Ground

I need to repeat this here, Rumpole. Got confused by 3 games today and was thinking this was tomorrow. Didn't read up far enough past SA v Eng.

Thx. :)

Nah... delays for rain all part of cricket... they can try and make up some time by starting early on next days...

They have got out to pitch to do coin toss.. so Cricket soon?

West Indies have won the toss, and have chosen to bowl

At least we can now FOCUS on the game in Oz :cool

It looks to me like they lost 10 overs due to rain. I hope they make those up by starting a half hour early next 2 days.

WI bowling slowly and not bowling required overs is NOT helping.

TEA... seems to me to be an hour late??

They have bowled 53 overs today... so I assume 7 overs lost. They will still have to bowl 30 overs in last session... make up 7 tomorrow??

I missed details of times and breaks etc... but I see they have got as far as 90 overs in the day?

So no overs lost... they seem to me to have played an hour and a half overtime?

It seems to me that WI are a bit crap at cricket (these days).

Australia could bat all day and score a million runs, but I dont see the point of that. ANY cricket match can "run out of time" and so end in a draw. And... RAIN has already disrupted play...it COULD rob more overs?

So IMO Smith should DECLARE... before lunch would be good. Australia will have 400+ which is "enough" Certainly after the first session (if not before)... maybe half way through second session (Australia 500+).. have an hours bowling at WI before Tea.

As I said... no point in Australia batting forever :cool

A lead now of 403 is enough.. but to be sure they can bat on a short while more.

Maybe Smith on 56 can keep going and try for a century (44 more runs).. Voges on 41 can hang in there and maybe get a century too (59 more runs).. SURELY with about another 100 and a lead of 500+ Australia should DECLARE!!!! (at lunch if they get on with it) :cool

LUNCH

Australia 473/3 (120.0 ov) (RR 3.94)

Steven Smith (rhb) 90 /131

Adam Voges (rhb) 74/122

36 more runs needed if both batsmen are to score centuries... worth trying for :cool

BUT... that is it!! Smith should decare once they both get there, or if one goes out and the other makes it.. or if both go out.
470 runs is more than enough already
