This is a good (long) report related to the previous post.

http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/shooting-victim-car-may-be-related-to-officer-involved-shooting/article_3ba9ebf6-a08e-5e53-bcaa-d6106ef4204a.html

UPDATED at 1:30 p.m. with description of suspicious vehicle and shooting victim

Police are questioning a man at a hospital with gunshot wounds to his lower extremities to see whether the incident is related to the shooting of an officer Tuesday morning.

The man, who arrived at a hospital around 1 p.m., told officers he had been shot at Selber Court and Goodfellow Boulevard, police say. Police found a silver Ford Focus near that location with a bullet hole through its windshield. It matches the description of the vehicle involved in the officer's shooting.

Officer involved shooting in Memphis. Mayor condemning our LE.

Police told FOX13 that the officer who was making a routine traffic stop noticed a male passenger of that vehicle, later identified as 19-year-old Stewart, allegedly had warrants out for his arrest.

While communicating with dispatch to find out if the warrants were still active, investigators said the officer had Stewart in the back of his cruiser.

The officer told investigators that when he opened the back door of his cruiser to handcuff Stewart, Stewart kicked the door open and attacked the officer.

During the struggle, the officer said Stewart grabbed his handcuffs and struck him with them, so he reached for his gun and shot him.

MFD transported Stewart to Regional One in critical condition, where he later died. More in link below.

Shreveport police: Officer shot, killed; manhunt ongoing

The Associated Press
Aug. 6, 2015 7:14 AM EDT

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Police in northwest Louisiana say an officer has died after being shot while on duty, and a manhunt for a suspect is under way.

Shreveport police spokesman Bill Goodin tells The Associated Press that investigators believe they know who the suspect is and are obtaining a warrant for his arrest.

Goodin says a news conference will be held at 9:30 a.m. CDT Thursday to outline details of the deadly shooting and release the name of the dead officer.

Clp. Marcus Hines said late Wednesday that the officer was shot while responding to a report of a suspicious person inside a home. Hines says an armed man was apparently inside the home, threatening to harm people.

Goodin says Shreveport police, Caddo Parish deputies, along with DeSoto Parish deputies and the state police are searching for the shooter.

Suspect in Shreveport officer's killing already wanted on murder charge

CNN, By Jason Hanna and Tina Burnside
Updated 1:15PM ET | August 6, 2015

(CNN) A man suspected of fatally shooting a Louisiana police officer Wednesday night already was wanted on a charge of second-degree murder, Shreveport police said Thursday.

Grover Cannon, 27, is suspected of shooting and killing Shreveport police Officer Thomas LaValley on Wednesday night after LaValley responded to a call at a home in the area, Chief Willie Shaw said Thursday.

"He is nothing to me but a coward who would shoot an officer and hide and run," Shaw said Thursday, referring to Cannon. "No matter what rock he crawls under, we will find him."

Police already were looking for Cannon in connection with a killing that happened three weeks ago, Shaw said. Police said Cannon is suspected of shooting and killing Darren Williams, 45, in Shreveport on July 15.

NBCNews.com
by ELISHA FIELDSTADT
Updated August 9, 2015, 5:45PM ET

The man charged with killing six children and a couple at their home in a Houston suburb had a previous relationship with the woman he is accused of killing, and at least one of the murdered children was likely his own, authorities said Sunday.

Valerie Jackson, 40, her husband, Dwayne Jackson, 50, and six children — Nathaniel, 13; Honesty, 11; Dwayne, Jr., 10; Caleb, 9; Trinity, 7; Jonah, 6 — were found shot to death in three bedrooms of their Harris County home Saturday night, Harris County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Tim Cannon said. Some had been handcuffed, and some were shot multiple times, Cannon said.

David Conley, 48, was charged with multiple counts of capital murder. Officials originally said he was suspected of killing five children and three adults.

Family: 15-year-old suspect dead in police shooting

WISHTV.com
Updated: August 10, 2015, 10:38 am

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 15-year-old is dead and police are looking for multiple others following a police involved shooting on the city’s northeast side Sunday night.

Family members identified the person shot and killed by police as 15-year-old Andre Green.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened just after 11 p.m. They said officers noticed a car near East 30th Street and North Chester Avenue that matched the description of a vehicle that had been carjacked in the 3100 block of Thompkins Square Court earlier that evening.

Officers say the suspects inside the car were seen shooting at people when they stole it.

Investigators say officers first followed the car at a safe distance. The car turned down a dead end near 34th and Butler Avenue, and that’s when they say the driver accelerated and tried to do a U-turn. Officers then attempted to stop the car, when the driver rammed a police vehicle on the driver’s side. Multiple passengers then exited the car and ran westbound.

Police say the driver refused to get out of the vehicle and almost hit an officer with the car. They said the suspect began turning the wheel of the car toward the officers and accelerated. At that time officers fired their weapons at the driver, according to IMPD.

They say the suspect then got out of the car armed with a gun and collapsed by the driver’s side door. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
[...]
Andre’s sister said they’d hoped her brother would return to Arsenal Tech for school on Monday morning.

“He would just be there to brighten up your day. He was a good person,” said Andre’s sister, Tericka Jackson.

Ex-Subway Spokesman Jared Fogle Plans Guilty Plea on Porn Charges, His Lawyer Says

ABCNEWS.com | April 19, 2015, 10:42AM ET
By Susanna Kim, Alex Perez, Whitney Lloyd

The Subway spokesman first rose to fame in 1999 after he lost 235 lbs. by eating Subway sandwiches and exercising.
He became the face of the chain, starring in numerous spots promoting the fast food's health benefits.

Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle faces a possible five to 12 years in prison in connection to the Justice Department's charges against him that he paid for sex with minors and received child pornography.

He intends to plead guilty and is prepared to serve the time, his attorney Jeremy Margolis told reporters outside the Indianapolis courthouse where Fogle made his first court appearance today.

Fogle, 37, has a "medical problem" for which he intends to seek treatment, Margolis said, adding he is prepared to pay the victims restitution and do what it takes to once again become a "productive member of society."

With a plea agreement, Fogle must spend at least five years in prison and five years of supervisory release, but the final sentence will be up to a judge, federal authorities said today.

Fogle, with another attorney, arrived at U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana this morning in a dark suit, white shirt, blue tie and the dark-rimmed glasses he sometimes wore in Subway ads.

In his brief appearance this morning at the Indianapolis Federal Courthouse, Fogle confirmed that he had received the charging documents and understood the charges against him. He was released, pursuant to the judge's orders. A plea agreement was also filed with the court, but he will enter a plea at a later date. It was not immediately clear what conditions the judge put on his release.

Police release sketch of Bangkok bombing suspect

USA TODAY
By Jane Onyanga-Omara
August 19, 2015, 12:43PM EDT

Image

Police in Thailand on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant and released a sketch of the man they believe carried out the bombing at a popular shrine in central Bangkok that killed 20 people.

Police spokesman Lt. Gen. Prawut Thavornsiri tweeted that a 1 million baht reward ($28,080) is being offered for information on the perpetrators.

The arrest warrant was issued for the “unidentified foreign man” Wednesday, but police said they're not sure the suspect is from another country, the Associated Press reported.

"He didn't do it alone, for sure. It's a network," national police chief Somyot Poompanmoung said at a news conference, referring to the main suspect. "Hopefully, he is still in Thailand."

On Tuesday, authorities released surveillance video images of the man they believe to be the bomber wearing a yellow T-shirt and leaving a backpack under a bench just before Monday's explosion.

Thai police on Wednesday said they called in two or three people - mostly foreigners — for questioning as the manhunt for the suspect continued, according to the AP.
