Grad student from Washington state charged with murders of four Idaho students

Dec 30 (Reuters) - A graduate student from Washington state has been arrested in Pennsylvania and charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students six weeks ago, authorities said on Friday.

Pennsylvania State Police took Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, into custody Thursday night on a fugitive warrant from Idaho, according to James Fry, chief of police in Moscow, Idaho, where the University of Idaho campus is located.

Hi crime follower colleague.

I enjoyed posting with you for the full Pistorius trial. I was stunned to see that you had not been actively running a post forum on the Idaho Student Murders because that is an incredibly fascinating case and I was ready to actively post daily.

I see now that you have included it as a forum link. Are you going to ramp up and get a group posting on this super interesting case ? I posted on some other forums but they're ridiculously complicated to post anything so hoping this can get active where it's going to be the best to follow the developments on these murders.

The suspect in the University of Idaho murder case appeared in an Idaho courtroom today where he waived his right to a speedy preliminary hearing, according to recorded videos from the hearing.

Bryan Kohberger, 28, will be back in court for his preliminary hearing in six months, on June 26, 2023. Until then, limited information will be available to the public about the case that has shocked the nation. Kohberger is being held with no bail.

Two weeks before the slayings of four University of Idaho students last November, the man now accused of killing them sent a series of messages to one of the victims on Instagram, an investigator familiar with the case tells PEOPLE.

In late October, an account that authorities believe belonged to Bryan Kohberger sent a greeting to one of the female victims, the source says. When he didn't get a reply, he sent several more messages to her.

"He slid into one of the girls' DMs several times but she didn't respond," the source tells PEOPLE. "Basically, it was just him saying, 'Hey, how are you?' But he did it again and again."
