This is what I posted over yonder
Be careful about believing that the toddler was injured the spokeswoman used red flag language on that statement, about the baby she said who appeared to possibly have been injured .
At the 42 second mark it appears that Flores is doing something with his rear waistband, it appeared from the officer’s behavior that they were staying clear of him for a reason which may have been Flores had a weapon. It was stated that he had a knife when the confrontation began and that it was a long confrontation. Personally I can’t tell if Flores’ hand movement or the gun shots come first.
Too far away, blurry and out of context of the entirety of what preceded the shooting for me to make a call. It looks bad on first blush but so did the Slager video.
Reverberations of BLM;
James Keith is the media relations officer for Bexar County.
When asked about the tweet, Keith cited the case of Darren Goforth, a deputy who was shot from behind and killed while filling up his car at a gas station.
”After what happened in Harris County, we are not going to take any chances,” Keith said. “Now our deputies are coming to work in civilian clothes because of their concern for safety.”
Hours later, the Sheriff’s Office sent out a message with the following statement: “In regards to the deputy involved shooting, we’re asking for calm and patience. We are diligently working to complete the investigation so we can move to the next step. We want to get this right for the Flores family, our deputies and our community.”http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/01/us/san-an ... -shooting/IMO this one needs time and facts.

Time will tell and there is allegedely another video that is a closer view so that if it is released it should shed some light on the incident. If Flores had a knife on him, if it was in his left hand, if the officers after a "lengthy confrontation" where non lethal force was tried and failed to subdue a non compliant Flores or the officers believed that Flores was going for a knife in his waistband then Flores is 100% responsible for his own death. There is no reason for armed officers to try and fend off a knife wielding man who has been noncompliant for an extended period of time. There was no reason for them to chance getting their guns back in their holsters or some other imaginary point of inaccessibility for Flores and to meet him in a hand to hand combat.
Mano v mano is for the movies.
If there is clear evidence that Flores was surrendering (and I don't think the video shows conclusively that he was) then the officers suffer the consequences of their actions. It would be very unusual that both cops were in a defensive posture, both stepped backwards, both had their guns drawn, both shot almost simultaneously, and one had his shield up, if they believed Flores was being compliant at the time of the shooting. I think Flores either had a knife or that he dropped his hands toward his waistband and since Flores had wielded a knife earlier the officers reasonably believed he might have a knife concealed in said waistband and they acted in self defense.
Also one of the officers definitely kicks something away when he approaches Flores' corpse. A knife? A teddy bear? Time will tell.
