Hit by car, mystery dog survives terrifying 11 mile drive in car grill

A white Bichon Poodle mix took a dangerous and unexpected drive down Route 44 between Taunton, Massachusetts and East Providence, Rhode Island on September 20. The Taunton Gazette is reporting that a driver accidentally struck the small dog and drove 11 miles (18 km) down the road before he was alerted by another driver that the dog was stuck in his car's grill. Miraculously, the dog survived the ordeal.
The driver recalls that the dog had rushed onto the roadway near Segregansett Country Club and he had slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting her. Not seeing the dog after that, he continued driving, believing he had avoided hitting the dog.
But a short time later, when he came to a stop light, another driver brought the small dog's peril to his attention. The upset driver immediately rushed to the East Providence Police Department, which thankfully was only a few hundred yards away. Officers and animal control worked to remove the dog from the vehicle. It took a bit of time to safely remove her because she was stuck tightly in the air intake and also because she was clinging on for dear life, even after the car had stopped moving.
