The Berry College Eagles (near Atlanta, GA) have two eggs. This is the most interesting time of the year to watch. The hatching phase :) through the time the juvenille eagles fledge. :10 The dad (smaller eagle with smooth head feathers) is usually at the river and can hear mom eagle's call if the nest experiences an intruder. The black food the dad brings to the nest is "coot".

My daughter and I have been watching the nest since 2013. Now the g-daughter watches on her phone and tells us if anything is going on. Many things can happen. In 2014 only one egg hatched and the other was buried in the nest by the dad. These birds are amazing to watch and I think this is the best Eagle Cam. Over the years audio was added and a second camera.

Eaglets B6 & B7 hatched on Sunday and Monday. (Many pics on Facebook) I noticed in this latest photo, they are already holding their heads up. I missed the feeding this morning, but seems to be either bloody fish or coot (water fowl) in the nest all day for continuous meals. They are going to grow fast! The note with this pic ... there always seems to be those who manufacture a problem happening. :doh The Berry College staff watch closely, there are circuit TVs showing the nest in most of the classrooms.

    Many of you have expressed concern about the actions of the eaglets at feeding time. B6 is the dominant eaglet because of birth order and it constantly "bonks" the younger sibling trying to keep it from eating. This is called "Cain and Abel Syndrome" and is an illustration of the "survival of the fittest" in the wild. It helps to remember these are wild animals and we are privileged to peek into their world even if it difficult to watch. PBS aired a program about this on "Nature."

The eaglets are growing fast... they are 6 weeks old. They aren't eating on their own yet. When they stretch their wings out, practicing flapping, they almost stretch across the nest. They say, that nest is near the size of a king-size bed. They have that "buzzard-look" going on. ;)

My last eagle post until next year. The eaglets are almost 3 mos old. :)

The eaglet that hatched on Valentine's Day fledged on Mother's Day. The other eaglet fledged yesterday. They are continuing to stay by the nest. Today, one is "wing-er-sizing" on a branch - the other seems content on watching or sleeping.

The flying is awkward but they are learning.

For the first five years they gradually change; the beak turns from black to yellow, the eyes from brown to pale yellow, body feathers from mottled to dark brown, and head and tail feathers from mottled to solid white.

The Berry eagles have been building up their nest the past two months, putting sides up and bringing in new straw. They haven't been sleeping in it, BUT the last couple of nights I noticed mom in it so I have been keeping watch. Here they are on branches near the nest. Mom is on the right.

Mom eagle laid another egg last night around the same time as the first (7:30pm).
The first egg will be hatching around February 7-8.

A pip (hole) was discovered on one of the eggs last night and it's a bit bigger today. The mom eagle continues to lay on the eggs, but she is getting up more often, rolling them around and looking at it.

In Sandspit, British Columbia Bald Eagles are a pest bird. They are so thick it is pathetic.

A lot like Magpie birds in my local area.

I like the live feeds... FUN TO WATCH!

Interesting info. We have grackles down here that are big pests.
You can't park your car anywhere downtown anymore, without getting a white coating of poop within minutes! They are loud also and the decorative trees that line the sidewalks are full of them. Reminds me of "The Birds" movie. :)

Little B8 eaglet was hatched early before sunrise yesterday. Happy to see a pip in the second egg this morning. Two years ago when the second egg didn't hatch was too sad to watch what happened. You can tell in the photo how the eaglet has grown in just one day. They get fed a lot compared to their size.
